Looks like James Vaughan is going to be out for longer than expected, because the american knee specialist that was going to operate on his knee, broke his arm in a skiing accident and wont be able to perform the operation for the time being. This kid just has no luck at all:(.

Is that Dr Richard Steadman? He's the genius that managed to get Bullard's knee back in good condtion after his horrific injury, Jimmy mentions how incredible he was in every interview.

Certainly is. Apparently he is one of the best in the business and he has operated on Vaughan's knee in the past, so hopefully he can get it sorted. I remember seeing Bullard's knee get crunched by Scot Parker and i'm amazed that he managed to play again, so hopefully Dr Steadman can work some more miracles.

Hmmm what can you say about the game vs Aston Villa. Dominate for 80 mins and lose, now we know how West Ham and Bolton supporters feel like. Fellaini got his token yellow card again, came close to scoring on a few occasions. Cahill seems a bit out of touch, needs a goal. Desperately need Saha back.

Saw this on the BBC this morning:

Budget: Virtually non-existent - sell to buy at best.

January previous: Manager David Moyes is a reluctant operator in the January transfer market. In 2008 he brought in Manuel Fernandes and Anthony Gardner on loan and took £2m youngster Dan Gosling from Plymouth, while Alan Stubbs and James McFadden left. Moyes did break the then club transfer record to spend £6m on James Beattie from Southampton in 2005 and took Mikel Arteta on loan from Real Sociedad, but do not expect big buys this time around. What they need: A striker - desperately. Yakubu is out for the season, James Vaughan will almost certainly not figure again this term and Louis Saha's injury record needs no introduction. A powerful midfield presence would help, but expect Moyes to concentrate on his attack.

Who they might buy: Newcastle's Michael Owen has been linked but that can be dismissed if Everton's public cry of transfer poverty is a true reflection of their financial status. It seems CSKA Moscow's Wagner Love can be struck from the list on similar grounds, but BBC Radio Merseyside's Mike Hughes adds: "There's a suggestion now that a loan could be a possibility with Love. Mamadou Niang is a player with great potential and would fit the bill, but Marseille may be less agreeable to a loan move. I think the favoured candidate is Huyton-born Portsmouth striker David Nugent. He certainly hasn't set the Premier League alight as yet, but maybe a move to Goodison Park could rejuvenate his career."

Who they might sell: One player who appears surplus to requirements but also marketable is left-back Leighton Baines. He has not established a regular place since his £6m move from Wigan in 2007 and Newcastle have been linked.

If we do only have a shoe string budget, which looks likely, I think we should be looking at loan deals for the likes of Nugent, Koumas...ect. Sure they are not world beaters by any stretch of the imagination, but they will provide good depth at the very least.

I don't want to sell Baines either, but I could only see Love coming to Everton if it was a permanent move. What motivation is there for CSKA to loan Love out? They wont want to risk putting him in the shop window after what Jo has accomplished since leaving them and the risk of him getting a long term injury is not worth the cost of wages they would save. How would we feel if it was us loaning out our best player to a Russian team during the English off season?

I can only see us signing freebies or somebody on loan. If we are to pay money, then it will be some cheapo from the championship.

If you're in the market for a 08/09 kit, everton's megastore site have them available from £15 (adult sizes) and it's only a tenner to get them personalised. Seems that we're def changing our distributors to kitbag and changing from Umbro Kits to...Le Coq Sportiff

You just have to live with their outrageous delivery fee of around AUS $50 to get it set to oz. Fortunately, I don't have that problem. :thumbsu:

A mate of mine in the UK went into the club shop and got me a kit. Long sleeve home strip with Cahill on the kit. Very much a surprise as he only informed me last week he did it as a xmas gift.:)

Transfer time is upon us and Everton desperately need to add some depth. Arteta linked with Arsenal but the club have said he is going nowhere. Hopefully we can tie up some deals quickly.

Latest player linked is Pogrebnyak.

Very nice. I'm looking in the pound shops for the afro to go with my new Fellaini home kit.. hasn't he settled well!

I'm afraid we'll be loan sharks this january window (I'd love to be wrong on this though).

Striker, striker and a midfielder please...

Hopefully we can tie up some deals quickly.

I would be very surprised if we were able to get most of our business in the transfer market done quickly. It is just not the Everton way to conduct business in an efficient and effective manner. When we are linked to players we seem to be forever monitoring, considering, analysing...ect, with the end result being a deadline day signing of somebody like Anthony Gardner. This is despite the chairman saying things like "watch this space" and "I will continue to back David Moyes with cash".

At least we can still say "Feed the Yak and he will score";).

The search for a striker gets more desperate!!

http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/ever...another-month-everton-latest-100252-22590014/

EVERTON’S need to sign a new striker has become even more urgent after David Moyes revealed that Louis Saha faces another month on the sidelines.

The France inter- national has been out with a hamstring problem since he pulled up lame during the Blues’ 1-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur on November 30.

Moyes had hoped to have Saha fit for the Christmas period but despite doing everything correctly during his rehabilitation, he never looked like getting fit.

That prompted Everton’s medical staff to send for another scan, which showed significant damage to the muscle and means Saha is back to square one.

“Louis has been re-scanned and he will be out for another four to five weeks,” Moyes confirmed today.

Though Victor Anichebe has recovered from a back problem, Tim Cahill will be asked to lead the line again when Everton start their FA Cup campaign against Macclesfield.

Defoe looks to be out the door at Pompey due to death threats or something, apparently his said he'll never play for the club again and Tottenham and Harry the Red have said they won't pay an inflated price for him.. Reports say Pompey would accept a loan deal with the option to buy at the end of the season David Moyes should be licking his lips at a chance to sign Defore even if just on loan till seasons end.

Tottenham will sign him, this is just how they go about unsettling a player before they sign him. I would expect them to do the same with Stewart Downing as well. As for ourselves, i'm expecting something like a deadline day loan signing of a player like Paul Dikov.

Apparenty Spurs and Pompey have agreed a deal for 15M.

I think looking at the BBC website summed it up for me as we are linked with Leroy Lita!!

For the £350,000 that that the story said it would cost, I think we could do alot worse than buy Leroy Lita for that amount, as he is a fair upgrade on Anichebe.

In saying that though, what sort of message does that send to the existing playing squad and fans regarding the clubs ambition? If I were Arteta or Lescott, I would be pretty pissed off if the best that the club could do is sign Leroy Lita, when the club that they are being linked with is going to spend around £100 million in this window. If they want to be a part of a successful side, the decision to stay or leave would be a pretty easy one.

It also raises questions about the boards ability to back the manager with funds. If you look at the last calendar year, our main transfer activity (involving transfer fees) has been:

Out:
- James Mcfadden (£5.5 million)
- Andy Johnson (£10.5 million)

In:
- Steven Pienaar (£2 million)
- Dan Gosling (£1.2 million)
- Maraoune Fellaini (£15 million)

Total net spent: £2.2 million

Considering that we had record turnover for the past financial year, serious questions have to be asked as to why the manager has to sell to balance the books. I've had a sift through our financial reports and it shows that we owe a fair bit of money to creditors in the next 12 months. It begs the question, why do we owe so much money and why has it increased so much in the past 12 months?

I'm somebody who is all for responsible fiscal management from the board of Everton football club, but you have to wonder, if they can't afford to buy somebody in this transfer window, how are they going to find approximatly £100 million to fund the move to Kirkby?

We should cash in on Pienaar already.

A bid has already been turned down for Piennar.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...5m-Russian-bid-midfielder-Steven-Pienaar.html

Everton have rejected an approach from Russian champions Rubin Kazan for South African midfielder Steven Pienaar.
Kazan coach Kurban Burdyev has been a long-time admirer of former Ajax man Pienaar.
Sources in Russia say they made a £4.5m bid but it was turned down by Everton chairman Bill Kenwright.
Burdyev stated his intent last month when he said: 'Pienaar is at Everton, but he doesn't always play.'
However, the player has figured strongly since his return from an ankle injury and manager David Moyes said: 'We're not intending to sell.'

We are being linked with Lucas Neill but I have no idea why, especially on the wages he wants.
