Absolutely pathetic last night. Just pathetic. Moyes would have been a great coach of Carlton.

A few weeks ago against Pompey, Baines was out best player.. he gets dropped the week after

Jagielka concedes goals nonstop, makes horrible decisions and indecisions that cost us a heap of goals and is the one common denominator in our non-clean sheet run. He hasn't missed a game.

Yobo has been our third best player all year and last night was dropped, no reason why, he was not at fault at all against Liverpool. Pathetic decision.

Tony Hibbert has played 90 mins of competitive football and he decides to keep him in for the Liege game, where he was caught out of position so much it was like not having a right back. Hell, he even showed Cameron Smith how to make a real grapple tackle.

Osman hasn't made a good pass in about 5 weeks yet still gets a start. I'd rather see Baxter start, or castillo.. or anyone ffs! The guy is a complete hack and always will be.

Moyes - stop tanking so that Big Bill will give you more money to fix the side.

EXCLUSIVE: Everton next to fall into foreign hands but boss Moyes will sign a new contract

Everton will become the latest Premier League club to move into foreign ownership when a £200million sale to bidders from the Far or Middle East is completed, possibly in a matter of weeks.

With Newcastle United also expected to end up in overseas ownership as Mike Ashley prepares a £250m escape from the troubled club he bought 17 months ago, the Premier League is fast approaching the day when the majority of clubs are in foreign hands.

Deals for Everton and Newcastle are being brokered by investment banker Keith Harris and both are now on the verge of receiving formal offers, which the clubs hope will allow negotiations to be completed before the transfer window opens in January.

In Everton's case there are two bidders, one from the Far East and one from the Middle East, believed to be a sovereign wealth fund similar to the Abu Dhabi United Group, who took over Manchester City last month in a £200m deal.

Everton chairman Bill Kenwright admitted at the extraordinary general meeting of shareholders last month that he wanted to sell, sparking genuine interest from more than one overseas investor. Kenwright is keen for the deal to happen before January and will not ask to stay on in any significant capacity.

Manager David Moyes will sign a new contract with the club next week despite the impending change of ownership.

'I trust Bill to find the right person for this club,' said Moyes last night. 'He will make sure they are the right type, not just anyone throwing a few bob around.

:thumbsu: The sooner we are sold the better. Hopefully we can load up on players come January.

I hope Ambani is the one who buys us.

That's really good news for the club and I needed a lift after the Liege match. However I do think that these billionaires have ruined english football compared to what it was like 10-20 years ago. Back then, clubs who had good management in place and made shrewed signings were rewarded with trophies. It also wasn't uncommon to see sides come up from the division below and challenge for the league. With all these billionaires in place, we will never see a side like Nottingham Forest in the 70's/80's who go from the second division, to back to back european champions in the space of four seasons or Leeds in the 90's, who won the league only two seasons after being promoted. Hopefully though, it ends the reign of dominance that the Big 4 have at the moment and wouldn't it be fantastic to knock Liverpool of their F****** perch!

Billionaires haven't caused that situation, Sky did and to an extent the champions league and the greed of the clubs that profit most from it.

Personally I think there should be a ban on any more foreign ownership of clubs anyway. Who's with me? ;)

I agree that SKY played a role as well, but I think it may be fairer to say that SKY started the rot and these billionaires compounded it. Before the likes of Abramovich came, we still had the odd perenial struggler challenge the top four, the main examples being Sunderland under Peter Reid, Ipswich Town under George Burley and Forest when Stuart Pearce was still there. Since Abramovich and the likes came in, can you see sides like Stoke, Hull ect.. achieving what these sides did?

Everton made the top 4 a few years back, Abramovich and all. The money in the game today is more than it has ever been. Not because of billionaires, but because of Sky, the premier league, greedy clubs and an incompetent FA that allow the rich to get richer and the poor to get poorer.

All that Abramovich did was turn a two horse race between Man United and Arsenal into a two or three horse race.

Our first 30 minutes were pretty good, should have been up 3-0. Our second half, however was pathetic, we were completely played off the park by newcastle, if it wasn't for Baines' brilliant clearance we would have lost.

As much as I think the foreign buyout has, in a way, destroyed the league, I am really happy Everton may be close to one. In reality it is the only way to legitimately push a top 4 spot.

exactly, at the end of last of we looked ok to go top 6 maybe top 4 again but with everything that has happened to us and the buy out of Man City we will be lucky to crack top 8... If we had the buyout last year we could have gotten the players we wanted and been up their again this year..

hopefully buyout comes before january and we have some cash tho throw around..

Septic Bladder has called on UEFA to bring in rules against foreign takeovers. Apparently it's all those nasty foreigners fault, so we should all be looking for the likes of Mike Ashley to steer our clubs through troubled times.

Has anyone been to www.evertonfc.com.au? It's the Everton Supporters Club Australia site. They run events in Brisbane and Sydney, and I'm trying to get some happening in Melbourne.

It's been a horrible season so far, but we blues are made of stern stuff!

Good to see the reserves beat Liverpool 3-2. James Vaughan got a double and Lee Molyneux got the other. Carlo Nash made a few blunders as well.

A game full of errors. All 3 of the goals we conceeded were dreadful lapses of concentration.

Our own academy/reserves setup is in a bit of turmoil at the minute. Mainly due to the actual setup of it. One of the most talented academies/reserve teams around, but the way it's run is a shambles.

Your own setup is much better.

What do you mean by setup? I've always thought of Liverpools academy and reserves as being much better run than that of Everton, as evidenced by your teams results in the FA youth cup and mini-derby's. Just have to look at scouting. Liverpool go worldwide and get players like Insua, Plessis, Nemith, El Zhar, Leto..ect, while Everton rarely go outside Britain. Our reserve team is nothing to write home about either. They didn't even have a manager for most of last season and in the past Alan Stubbs has had to manage them, because there was nobody else to do it. The only plus I would have for Everton over Liverpool, is in recent years our scouting of the local lads has been better. We tend to undo our good work though as we can't hold onto the good ones, ala Rooney and Jeffers. Hopefully we keep a hold of some of the good ones coming through at the moment though.

Liverpools setup is probably better at getting results, but as far as providing footballers for the first team it's been rubbish since the days of Owen and Gerrard.

Two FA Youth Cups in a row a few years back, I doubt one player from either squad will make it at Liverpool.

Everton on the other hand may not have had the success results wise, but have produced much more in recent times.

Another game, another loss. Some good signs in the first half but back to old ways in the 2nd. The record continues for Moyes, yet to win an away game against "the big 4" in 6 seasons.

It is an amazing situation that could only happen at Everton. Everton have won 4 out of their last 15 league games. We have also won only 1 cup game out of 5 and been knocked out of 3 cup competitions in the same period. You would think these stats would have a manager under severe pressure. Not at Everton....... They more than double the salary of the manager to 65,000 pounds a week and give him a 5 year contract extension.

Worst thing is, we haven't had a clean sheet yet and the only constant in that apart from TIm Howard who has been excellent... is Jagielka - he could score 5 own goals and get a game next week. He goes for this ridiculous lunge on Adebayor, misses him and it leaves Nasri or someone free to take a shot which leads to RVP's goal.

I think Moyes deserved a contract extension when you look at the last five years as a whole. In saying that, his record against the big 4 has been appauling and even Hull have won more games away against the big 4 than Everton have in the last 9 years. What staggers me is why he would get an extension of 5 years at £65,000 per week when he hasn't even won one trophy. I would have thought a 3 year extension at about £40,000 per week would be closer to the mark.
