Don't need one. You can plug a VHS in to a DVD Recorder. Don't need a Double
Thanks, Magpie Girl! You don't post very often domus, but when you do its gold!
I don't have a VCR.
Or a DVD recorder for that matter... Except maybe on my laptop.
IF that is the case then I doubt you have any VHS anyway.
And I believe he married his childhood sweetheart and they happy together all these years later. Likes an occasional day at the races I believe too.Waited around to chat with Peter Daicos at a sportsmen's night and decided not to hold back. After a brief introduction and a bear hug, I looked up at him and said." I have actually cried at the footy when watching you, Daics" I thought he might laugh or make a joke along the lines of "Was I that bad?....but he sensed the genuine emotion in my voice and said:"What's your name?" after telling him he simply said, "Mark, that's a really lovely thing to say." he posed for photos with me and my grown up son. To cap off my night he walked past me 15 minutes later and he rubbed my head-I grabbed his hand and kissed it! He laughed and said-" No way..come on!" I think he got the feeling I liked him!
I' glad I put it out there. watching Daics was a transcendent experience on many occasions. I go to my grave knowing I told the legend as much to his face.
I walked past big Bob Heard up at Daylesford earlier this year. I asked him the time before it dawned on me who it was. He was with his wife and after they walked away I was kicking myself for not saying something. After all, Bob played in an iconic era , including the infamous 1970 GF. I was waiting for my wife and leaning on my car when I saw Bob and his wife coming back toward me. I took a deep breath, walked over to him and said, "Bob Heard, may i shake your hand?" The next ten minutes were bliss. He and his wife were lovely and both were happy to reminisce about the good old days. Bob's wife was still furious with Bobby Rose for not bringing Bob off the bench until late in the final quarter. I talked about the prelim in 73 against Richmond when Bob took some great contested marks and banged through a couple of goals inside a minute. He was loving it. When I told him he was a very underrated tap ruckman, Bob concurred and proceeded to show me how he use to flick the pill out the back and to the side. After a couple of very wristy demonstrations he laughed and said he better be careful going all limp wristed like that in Daylesford! His wife told me that when he went to Richmond, Barry Rowlings said he was the best tap ruckman he played with. That was a great day!
When I was posted to my first teaching position at a school in Rosanna, I'll never forget the first time I walked into the staffroom. Leigh Carlson was sitting at the table eating his lunch! I had just seen him perform admirably the year before in the 1979 GF and now he was a fellow teacher! It took me a few weeks to summon up the courage to chat with him. I was like a tongue tied boy trying to hook up with a girl!
One day we were the only two in the staffroom and we began to chat. We hit it off and found we had alot in common. This friendship gave me an insight to the club I had only ever dreamed about. Leigh would tell me about Hafey's prematch speeches and Phil Carman's strange behaviour. Leigh actually loved him as a bloke. He laughed about Rene Kink's cockiness and used to express great frustration about Kevin Morris's disposal and alack of footy smarts. Leigh played in the 1980 GF against Richmond that first year I was with him and I was one of the first people to be told Collingwood had traded him with Warwick Irwin mid way through the season the following year. Leigh was shattered at the time. Fate ordained that Fitzroy played Collingwood in one of the greatest finals in history. Leigh played well, but in that titanic last quarter I told Leigh I discovered my love for Collingwood was more powerful than my good wishes for Leigh. He nearly drilled a 60 metre torp with a minute or so remaining on the clock. We hung on to win by a point.
Leigh told me some bloodcurdling stories about life under Robert Walls but they won't be shared in this forum!
To this day Leigh remains one of my closest friends. He is a beautiful man.
I've posted about this before, and it concerns His Mickness, but I was very excited and happy at the time.
It was in Grand Final week, 2010 (week before the draw). I have an embarrassing habit of decorating my house in Collingwood gear when we are in the finals. The deeper we go, the more signs, scarves, Collingwood garden gnomes, etc, I drag out to the front of the house.
In those days, my husband and I used to see Mick and Nanette on their morning walk, mainly in the Fitzroy Gardens, although he also ventured further afield, to the surrounding suburbs.
Anyway, I opened my door one morning to go to work, and Mick was standing out the front, smiling at the decorations. He then smiled at me, before walking away. I was ecstatic at the time.
I went to primary and secondary school with Brayden Sier and although I'm 2 years older than him, ...
When I first started playing SuperCoach in 2010 I made it my team name and it's been my username for all forums and fantasy leagues that I've joined since.Surely that'd make you a tad young to remember Joe Dolce?
Then where's your username from?

The name comes from the university in a Rocky and Bullwinkle movie that I watched as a 7 year old.

76, when I saw this new poster's username this morning, 'that song' has been playing in my head ever since. Even sang a few bars to my husband, who grimaced. Yuk.

"...one more time, for mumma!....whattsamatta, you....gotta no respect...."
Could it be our pre game song?
Could it be the one Joffa does after wins at the 'G
No............who on earth dreamed it up!?
Was he hiring the baby capsule so he could put sooky Brad Johnson in one?Walked into Tony shaw at wet and wild while he was our coach, "next year mr. Shaw?" "We hope so" he said. Nope
Boxing Day a few years back was in the shower, the door bell rang, had a baby capsule hire service, and I was already pissed off someone wanted to collect one that day, I'd just finished a run, hopped in the shower, the guy was early. Hubby answered the door takes one look and says," my wife's a football nut and she's really going to over react when she sees you!" It was Chris grant, I was speechless .....for about 10 sec! Got pics of him with the kids in ther pjs still! When he brought the capsule back, I asked him if he'd mind me having my mum, a Footscray fan, there, he was so lovely, we got pics and he just made her day.
Ran into Jamie Elliot when I took daughter to a physio session at the VIS, she gives him a big hug like they are besties, (I didn't actually recognise him, no gear on and he had just started with us) then they became Facebook friends! (Yes I've hinted a lot!)
Was at a bbq and doggie Hawkins was there, had a chat, funny bugger!
Walked with MM back to the car park after training one day, he was so nice to my kids, asking about school etc. he still thinks we beat Brisbane, mentioned roccas goal!
I have a pic of my kids with Eddie, I went to who wants to be a millionaire, got his attention in a break, he came over and signed it, he was really nice!

Welcome to our big footy world.I'm glad I've already made an influence
Met Peter Daicos at a work meeting the other day. I introduced myself and as he shook my hand he said “I’m Peter”, I replied “I know”.
Haven’t washed my hand for a week!
Yeah I found him really easy to talk to, very down to earth.Awesome bloke, spent a day in the box at a Pies game with him on the piss, absolute cracker.
