Is it? I can think of Bottoms (which is less rom com than teen gross out com) and Bros in recent years For the record Bros was very funny.

Cant think of any others?

The two most recent rom coms that have been successful i can think of are all cis and white (Anyone But You, The Idea of You).
Will & Grace, though that would be going back a bit.

The fixation on the demographic of characters by some is just so ridiculous and, despite the furious denials that I am sure will follow, does say something about their mindset. If seeing a black person, gay person, woman or other in a lead role irritates you because it's not a reflection of your face, go back several decades and check out the top 10 box office hits for the year, hell, make it the top 20, and see how many faces other than white male there are in the main roles. Forget walking a mile in someone's shoes, just a couple of steps will do, imagine being a black man, gay person, white woman, going to watch a movie in that era and never seeing your face reflected in the main character. That the only way you will is in some niche, low budget effort. You're irritated now? When the majority are still white, hetero and male? Because other people get a turn?

What does is matter if it's a woman waving a laser sword instead of a man, especially when the six previous movies were centred around a white man? What does it matter if there's a female superhero, when the vast majority are still white men? Can you really not watch a movie if it's a black man doing exactly the same thing or a woman?

Is there a tendency toward more diverse casts than you might find in the average friend group on the street? Sure. But again, why does it matter? And also, it's making up for decades of ignoring certain demographics. People need to grow up.

Not a movie, nearly 20 years old and had one gay lead and one straight lead?

To be clear i think there are MORE gay rom coms now than there ever have been before (which i think is good) but id hardly say its the norm now.

In fact, thinking broadly, Red, White and Royal Blue and Bros are the only recent one i can even think of.

Happiest Season, , Booksmart, Fire Island, The Half of It, Love Simon, Alex Strangelove, and a heap of cheapies on Netflix if you do a scroll just off the top of my head
Booksmart was coming of age not a romcom.
Fire island I have no idea, never heard of it, the half of it the same.

Love Simon and Alex Strangelove fair but if we’re going with Netflix and prime cheapies that no one watched they’re gonna get dwarfed by the straight ones. 14 kissing booths, map of tiny perfect things, etc etc.

The volume is representative of the volume of things being made, I’d assume the percentage has had only a minor uptick.

I just don’t need to see my face reflected back at me to relate to a character. A black superhero isn’t any different to a white superhero. The relationship between the male doctor and male engineer on Star Trek Discovery was well drawn and sweet. What matters is the writing, not whether it’s a man or woman, black or white, gay or straight.

I dont disagree. but it cannot be forced, it has to be organic.

People that get in situations where they need to snap the blinds closed, have an inordinate number of windows in the house too. Big bay windows and side windows in the lounge room, each bay with separately operated blinds. Enough to make it a montage.

I'm looking at this room I'm in now. One window out in to the street. One roller blind. Two curtains either side. No dramatic potential.

no security doors or other protective measures. knock on the door, open it blindly.

If there's an extended inside shot of a character driving a car they are about to be smashed by a sideways collision.
This one really shits me... the possibility of timing a collision between two vehicles travelling at 60km/h plus, sight unseen from different directions, is nigh on impossible.
