No way Williams drop a pay driver mid-season when they are going to finish last anyway. Along with the rumour is that Williams are going to switch to the Renault power unit and will take Piastri on loan from Alpine. If that is the case it will be from next year. The initial rumour was Canada would be Loltifi's last race but all the talk now is that he will last the season.
Latifi has wrecked his car that many times he is costing them more money than he is worth, he just spent a race 30 seconds behind the 2nd slowest car on the grid and got a handful of penalties for stupid shit and Alpine will be paying them/supplying them engines into the future.

Oscar also recently did a seat fit with Williams and these rumours don't appear from thin air they are obviously having discussions about the possibility of having Latifi retire now but thats probably on him if wants to continue knowing his seat is already gone to someone else for next year.

To be fair, I'm pretty sure the reason he was 30 seconds behind the 2nd slowest car was the 10-second stop-go penalty he copped for the team's starting grid infringement - which wasn't his fault (it was due to the mechanic touching the car after the 15 second warning was given).

Don't get me wrong... he is still the slowest driver on the grid, and he did cop an additional penalty for ignoring blue flags... but being 30 seconds behind wasn't entirely his fault on this occasion.

I like the logic in this Scarbs discussion with Scott Mansell (Driver 61) whereby cars that exceed a certain G force with their porpoising/bouncing are forced to make a safety related ride height change, even in parc ferme....

Two of the most annoying people on Youtube.

So Binotto doesnt think the FIA should get involved in regards to porposing:

Carlos has called for the intervention of the FIA, but Mattia Binotto is adamant no general changes are needed
Carlos Sainz also requested a decisive intervention by the FIA, did not go unnoticed by the Ferrari team principal, who however pointed out he does not fully agree: “I am aware of his thoughts, but I believe that some interventions have been made on the car and that the overall behavior has improved. Also in Baku, the bouncing has progressively decreased from Friday to Sunday. The teams can always make choices in terms of set-up that can reduce the problem “, he concluded, probably also referring to the increase in height from the ground.

poor ol' perrottet will b inconsolable. so sad.

He is salty af and it is hilarious.

"It's a loss for the F1. That's all I can say," Perrottet said.

"It's probably going to be a disappointing event for years to come until it comes back to its rightful home.

"It's a global event and Sydney is really only Australia's global city."

Comes back to its rightful home?
If anything that’s Adelaide.

Well it’s happened, FIA have issued a TD in regards to reducing porpoising on safety grounds

From the sounds of it, it looks like Merc and Ferrari are going to have issues

Edit: article now available from the FIA

This is exactly what “two of the most annoying people on YouTube” discussed in my earlier post. The cars already measure vertical loads via the Safety Data Recorder.

They may be annoying to Bradesmaen but it looks like they know what they’re talking about

I know more than them. An illustrator with no background in engineering and failed racing driver.

Could we ever host two back to back races?
The two issues infrastructure and attendance.
The second one being the main issue as clipsal and the Melbourne GP were always held close together.
The bigger issue is that we had to fight to keep the one we already have. In expanding more into the USA and Middle East, they're axing almost as many races as they're creating. Even Monaco is no guarantee of keeping its race (arguably a good thing, given that the cars have well & truly outgrown the circuit). Spa is apparently going too, despite being arguably the best race track in the world.

Australia isn't a mega market, like the USA, so the chances of us ever getting a second race are somewhere between zero and non-existent.
