I'm about to start episode 6 and this season has been pretty good so far. Much less of the manufactured drama and more focus on the teams. The Williams v Haas episode was very good and continued to show why James Vowels is such a great hire as TP for Williams.

Looks like Verstappen and Red Bull will crush the field again, so with that out of the way, shall we ask ourselves when Ferrari will make their first strategic ****-up?

By race or lap?

At the end of testing what does the natural pecking order appear to be. Seems like it could be

Red Bull
(daylight)
Ferrari
(bit of a gap)
McLaren/Mercedes
Aston Martin
(bit of a gap)
Racing Bulls
Alpine
Williams
Sauber
(bit of a gap)
Haas
I think that order is more reflective of Day 1 testing. Over the whole period I'd have

1. RBR
2. Ferrari
3. Mercedes
4. McLaren
5. AMR
6. Sauber
7. RB
8. Alpine
9. Williams
10. Haas

I don't think there's half a second between the RBRs and the Ferraris anymore, think the gap is probably down to the 2-3 tenths range after the end of day 3 unless Ferrari were throwing the kitchen sink at the test and RBR were sandbagging hard. Ferrari seem to have a quali advantage over the Mercs but the race pace seems closer. McLaren seems a definite 4th and AMR are clearly behind them. Alpine are nowhere, reports from Bahrain are that the car is a handful. Don't really pay enough attention to the rest.

Red Bull and then depending on who you listen to there is either a small gap or a big one to Ferrari. Or, that could just be the difference between Max and Checo.

Then the next group seems to be Merc, McLaren, Aston, and Visa. The order of those teams is up in the air and probably going to be track specific but general opinion has Mercedes and McLaren as the best.

The last four teams is a bit the same way. Haas will be the worst but there is a lot of criticism of Alpine and their car. Williams and Sauber seem to have improved so they could be the best of that bunch.

Is this the first time it's been on FTA in Australia? Idk if we have anyone who can commentate the weekend.
Channel 10? They'll just get Chris Brown Robert Irwin to do it.

"Crikey! Do you see how fast that Red Bull is? She's a beauty."

That wouldn't surprise me. Some type of I'm a celebrity cross over. I'll take a look but I'm pretty happy with sky. Even though individually they're annoying. They know their stuff and the British accents make it more exciting for some reason! Could you imagine rolling out Eddie and Gerard Whateley. "Landos in the pocket"

I only threw Robert Irwin in there because he's replaced Chris Brown, who seemed to do everything at Channel 10. I have no idea who they'll get to do it. Probably someone from Supercars.

Nope. At least the last 2 years have been on FTA. IIRC they had Tom Clarkson (hosts the official F1 podcast), Mark Webber (IIRC) and someone else commentate the race.

Didn't realise at all. Probably would have taken a look. Would be good if. Ch10 got thee rights for the races that are closer to Australia.

It's one of those events on the Govt's anti-siphoning list so it's always been on FTA
The lack of British bias is worth it for the 3 ad breaks you get

Are they trying to see if a Thursday - Saturday format works better ?

Probably does over here, so you can sleep in on Sunday after a late race.

No. There is a legit reason for it but I can't remember off the top of my head what it is.
