What happens if after all this rigmarole, Liam doesn’t impress as much as before, or/and Franco is better than him?
Franco won't wind up in the Red Bull stable. Red Bull would just go to Iwasa or Hadjar.

is there any possibility given no one has officially said anything regarding DR at RB, that Checo may retire after his home GP and DR gets the seat?

Wouldn't necessarily explain the emotions from DR, but maybe RBR don't even really know what's happening yet

I think it would be more likely for Max to walk away from F1 for a while than Checo to retire

It's pretty disappointing they haven't officially put him out of his misery.

Everyone seems to know, at least give him some dignity by confirming it.

It's like having him in the hangmans noose and then leaving him in for a week.

RBR have given Checo his 15th warning over his performance

If Max were to walk at the end of the year, RBR would have to reconsider putting Tsunoda in the main car.
They'd just about have no choice. Could try and get Danny Ric back but either way a partnership of Ric/Tsu/Law isn't going to win much as a main pairing.

If Red Bull were indeed going backwards and Max were to take a sabbatical, they could do worse than put Ricciardo or Tsunoda in that car. They can't put Yuki with Max but I think they would be open to giving him a run in place of Max. I wouldn't see this happening unless Red Bull felt they wouldn't be in a position to compete for the constructors championship.

some say driver an F1 car these days is straightforward. not sure i agree.

Interesting that there's an 'N' button to put the car gearbox into neutral, but there's no 'R' button to chuck the car in reverse.

I mean it's not unusual to see a car spin or go off track and need to reverse in order to manoeuvre out of a tight situation, yet time and time again the driver has all sorts of trouble getting the car in reverse, sometimes taking quite a while. A button might help for that.

You say that but when's the last time that happened in a race?

Red Bull have taken a massive L in how they have handled this. Whether you think it is the right decision or not, there is a right way to handle it and they definitely handled it the wrong way.

Probably not the way you’d want to go out if you could script it, but kinda felt like his return left something like this to happen pretty open.

Coming back to an uncompetitive team, age, not exceeding expectations…dunno, might have had more fun driving in a Haas.

Knew they were holding back the announcement until that new Hugo ad campaign featuring RIC went live

Will be sad to not see him on the grid anymore 😥 Having watched his whole F1 career is starting to make me feel old....

So I saw Gary Ablett Snr and Gary Ablett Jnr’s whole careers

DR brought Aussie larrikin to the world as well as being a great driver

Still annoyed I coughed up $80 for his Renault cap only to see him exit a year later

Given he allegedly signed with McLaren before his second season at Renault started, it's quite likely he was already leaving before you bought it.

Impatience proved very costly for the second half of DR's career. Both his own, and his team managers.
