No different to any other athlete in terms of post contest in my opinion.
Think that's a pretty basic thing to say.

Travelling at 300km/h in a sport that has actually had fatalities would be far more adrenaline pumping than running out to play a game of footy. Especially if you're interviewing someone after a big crash etc.

I dont think the drivers care too much about being killed in the car, or they wouldn't do it.

The fines dished out for swearing are ridiculous though, dont drop them too often but you shouldn't be fined for swearing in any sport.

Sort of.

If you call someone a c bomb or f-wit sure, but people swear.

If you're constantly doing it then sure, slap them on the wrist but I don't think what's been said last year warrants that.
Some of the stuff said about racing stewards I think is a bit much, thats where I'd draw the line.

I know some dont like comparing to other sports, but could you imagine if a coach started a post match presser by having a go at the umpires, or calling them corrupt. A fine would be the least of their worries.

I'd much rather they swear than doing a Toto and saying things were rigged etc

That last lap of the race in Abu Dhabi in 2021 was the absolute epitome of the outcome being rigged and put a stain over the reputation and integrity of F1 that still resonate.

Say what you like about Toto but he was spot on with that. And the response of the FIA was weak as p$ss.

Incompetence under pressure? Absolutely.

Rigged? I still think it's a stretch.

Actually he wasn't

I know for a fact that scenario was agreed to by all teams prior to the start of the 2021 season, Toto had forgotten that and continues to embarrass himself years down the track.

Johnny Herbert has apparently been sacked as a steward.

Yep - interesting wording too. IMHO, they avoided using the words 'bias' and 'conflict of interest' while clearly implying it.

Not a fan of his commentating or adjudicating but sacking him because of conflict of interest concerns is more than a bit hypocritical from the FIA. I mean Derek Warwick has clear business ties with Honda but apparently that's OK because he keeps quiet in the media about it?

Seems to me that the FIA statement on Herbert replicates almost word for word what Jos Verstappen was saying publicly to selected European media outlets last year after Herbert criticised his son's driving style.

they agreed to avoid finishing a race under SC conditions at almost all cost.

Masi's mistake was not letting all lapped cars unlap themselves, that was the wrong call irrespective if you're Team Max, Lewis, neither or both.

With the benefit of hindsight, it should have been no unlapping and green flag with everyone jumping out of the way (they would have, nobody wants to be another Timo Glock considering how much more toxic social media is since 2008), unlap everyone, or red flag the race when Latifi crashed and have a 3 lap sprint.

Max wins for the first two of those options, Lewis probably wins having had a free tyre swap and being faster on the day or they crash for the 3rd option.

The real mistake was Mercedes not bringing in Hamilton for new tyres, which of course is because Checo backed him up enough to keep him out of the SC window.

I think because it happened for the first time at the worst possible time for it to do so, has magnified this 1000000 times.

Had it occurred midway through the season, the blow back would have been minor. As you say, they all agreed to this scenario right down to the unlapping (which I agree was stupid). Masi has copped so much flak for doing his job and its ridiculous.

Rigged implies the people who made the decision only did it because they wanted Max to win the race which is just silly. I thought how it was handled wasn’t great and Lewis was entitled to feel pretty hard done by but that’s a long way off being rigged.

Mate, you would have hated Lewis Hamilton no matter what he does..

It's sort of your thing. Just own up to it.
I think you mistake me for someone else.
Never hated Hamilton. Just preferred other drivers to him and thought the results he had were down to the car and the team preferencing him over teammates.
Anyway, I see he has crashed the Ferrari…..

And the latter part of 2024 has me - hoping, but perhaps in vain - that we'll get an even season. So many new faces and old heads in different seats, but I don't mind Verstappen winning again as long as the contest is close.

We all want a competitive WDC no matter who you support, and you'd have to be one of those if you take no enjoyment from seeing a 7 time WDC realise a boyhood dream. Are you one of those, Mr Black_White ?
I simply stated I was sick of the Ferrari/Hamilton posts all over the place. Would have said the same if my socials were full of Max or Oscar posts. Because it becomes repetitive and boring.
Some of you have decided to get more out of this post that was ever intended. Must be a slow day.
