I had joked with family some sort of Clarkson and Fagan reuniting would make sense.

I could see Fagan opting to move to director of footy and inviting Clarko in as coach, so much of that feels possible.

Clarko wants a flag in 5 years list, where else will he find that?

Fagan might just want what’s best for the club and if he thinks Clarko can bring that and he can use his unique relationship with him to open that door, why not?

All I’ll say is..I’m getting messages galore saying it’s true, Clarko and Fages have been working on it, Clarkos Daughter lives in QLD, Fagan to footy ops, Clarko on a 5 year deal, he was at the club 2 weeks ago, he bought a house in QLD, my friend who works at the club said it’s a done deal.

Reasons I categorically do not think it’s true/possible/will happen.

Fagan would be on $600-800k you’d imagine, so does he leave that on that table? Does he keep that wage and move to director of footy? How do we fit him on 800k and Clarko in on 1.4m respectively, when we just had coaches take pay cuts and we have no coin.

Clarko is coming back for a payday, even if the idea was perfect, there’s no way it’s happening or we could afford it - hell you could get 2 highly rated, senior assistants for half of Clarkos wage and we won’t even do that.

There was a contest I saw right in front of me on the weekend. Midway through the 4th quarter, 11 points down. We win a centre clearance, get the ball in deep and generate a deep F50 stoppage. We have repeat stoppages and increasing pressur - lots of wrestling for the ball. Essendon just manage to win it but hack kick it to teh opposite side of the ground under the pressure from Charlie and Lyons. Its 2 v 1 Sharp/Madden vs one Essendon bloke. Harry goes to block the Essendon player leaving Madden to the ball. Unfortunately Madden gets under the ball and it bounces in between. The Essendon player outmuscles both of these players and scrubs a kick out of the 50 - towards the wing and then Stringer wins a one-on-one against someone (?Lester) and toes the ball towards our HB line for a stoppage. Instantly all that pressure is gone and we have to now defend. How is a coach responsible for that? We should have had a turnover in the F50 - possibly a centered pass into the middle for an easy shot. Instead we get sent back to our own defense and have to waste another 5 minutes building pressure. Ah Chee/Answerth/Pryor/Coleman in any 2 player combination would not have let that happen. Calling for Fagan's head after the Bombers match is pure irrational behaviour.

Partly it's the fault of the coach(es) because our players have, in the main, been conditioned to run, not to win contests. It's why we got belted by Geelong in 2020, it's why we got belted by Melbourne in Round 15, and it's why the contest you refer to went down like it did. We need to bulk up, and we need to do so in October, before we get back into our preseason running, so we learn to run with that extra size. That's what the dynasty team did - in fact, they didn't achieve anything until they did this, despite all the potential they had before that. Yes, I know footy has changed in 20 years, but this has not changed. Just ask Jack Viney.

With the Tassie team, I agree it makes a lot of sense.

Only thing is - he has referenced ‘being older’, ‘won’t be involved in footy forever’, when Charlie signed his contract he said ‘that’ll mean he’ll be here longer than I will’.

He is perfect for tassie but its 5-10 years away and he will want to enjoy his retirement with his wife at some stage, reckon Tassie would be only in a very limited capacity if any.

- the beams stuff coming and going was all through the rumour cycle, we all knew unofficially about Beams to brissy weeks before it broke.

I reckon 50% of stuff you hear through those cycles has some truth to it, makes sense, people work in these clubs and talk to these people - things are gonna get out.

It doesent always land but I bet there’s some truth to it, it might be something as small as Fages called Clarko to see if he would be interested in a senior assistant role, they might have just had a coffee, Fages might have joked ‘I’ll step down if Clarko wants to coach here’ in the office and someone took it literally.

Worth noting that it massively depends where you hear it from. SEN callers or a random mate who doesn't usually get mail - drop it to 1%. Known connections are probably about the 50% mark. Yep for sure and there are now fake footy news Face book and Insta accounts who openly make up stuff, that is literally the basis for their whole exsistance, so that doesen’t help.

This one piqued my interest because I thought it was a chance, I’ve discussed it, I’ve heard murmurs along the way - now here we are.

But rumours often start there, something that ‘makes sense’ starts being spread as fact.

Nope nothing this year. I’d say we will be pretty low key, might look at a Dan replacement. Our cap is tight AF so focus is on retaining talent, a lot of them are due for their pay days over the next 2-3 years.
