Any thoughts?

A lot of people with not much to do? Sure the fanplanner is a useful tool but given the bye this year and still no confirmation on exact game changes to SC, salary cap etc you can't really create a team with any accuracy.

I have read some DT releases over the summer that suggest either player prices are to be reduced or increase in salary cap with extra bench increases. Has this been factored in with fanplanner to date?

Yep- Monty has been pretty active in keeping it up to date with the latest news as it comes out.

LOL....Why not go and have a look at the FanPlanner before commenting.

Monty as usual has been keeping it as realistic as possible and i'm sure many are thankfull. It's never 100% but at least it gives those with time to kill a chance to plan ahead, albeit rough.

I've only had a quick look at it and i must say the way he's set it up to illustrate which rounds your projected players will have their byes is an enormous help and probably something that DT/SC sites won't give you visability of.

+ 1 :thumbsu:

It's a great feature to use when planning for byes. As you say I doubt whether DT/SC will have this.

Not criticising Monty but merely pointing out that if as expected the prices are either reduced to allow an extra three bench players or the cap is raised then obviously things will change.

I have my half a dozen locks but will wait for the final rules and pre-season before spending too much time to compile a side.

Monty has already taken into account a reduced price for all players across the board in the Fanplanner, but your point that it is not necessarily a perfect reflection of the final Supercoach prices is correct ... as to the "final rules", I am pretty sure the final rules have been set in stone and have been well-publicized.

Sorry if I have been unclear but by "final rules" I was refering to salary cap and number of trades this year as speculation is these will change due to the bye. Do you know what these are to be set at?

Salary Cap will be the same. Trades will be increased to 22.

This is what ive heard. :thumbsu:

the salary cap stays the same, however the player prices come down enogu to accomodate the three extra players.

As for trades, i heard that there are going to be 24...or is that jsut for dream team?

No, you were quite clear ... The salary cap is to remain the same (hence the change to the "magic number" and corresponding reduction in the pricing of all players) and there are 24 trades per season - it will be the same format as Dream Team - see here for more info:

If Schuey/Grundy work out, you win. Can I have half?

Thanks for that :thumbsu: I have heard so much speculation as to what will actualy be the game changes for this year that it's been quite confusing but if SC follows DT :thumbsu:

CASH LEFT: $132,500

2nd year playing, going for league win... Thoughts?

Note: Richardson will be swapped out for Matera/Dixon in round 2, so him and petrie having same byes won't matter too much. Hibberd, Beams and Wallis will change according to rookies playing round 1, as will Jacobs.

That's a might big waste of a trade you've got there. Particularly since you can easily just have Smith on the field for round one and Matera on the bench.

Nah, thats what I mean. Richardson onfield for round one with Matera and Dixon on bench, Matera or Dixon onfield for round two with Richardson on bench. No trading :)

Spose I should work on my reading and comprehension skills a little. I just assumed that because you mentioned it, it was a trade. :)

Guess I should offer a little bit of feedback then- Petterd and Didak have had a pretty poor pre-season thus far (Though Petterd is back in full training)- and Hartlett is an injury just waiting to happen! Outside of that though, it looks pretty decent.

Spending that much on a R3 is probably overkill, particularly with Smith as cover.

Sewell is an interesting choice- personally, I think he won't make true keeper status in the mids (That said, if you feel that they will- back yourself!)- so you might look to either upgrading him to a super-prem, or downgrading him for more of them tasty mid rookies.

Why is their so much love for Knights.

I was under the impression this guy was still in the recovery/injury group with quad issues.

In a year where so much importance is on having every player available my main concern would be looking for guys who can play the whole season and leave the risks on the shelf.

Because he's cheap and has had excellent years in the past.

Also, people don't want to read past the first line.

I think most people will continue to opt for 1-2 injury prone bargains for any advantage they can get.

Remembering there are 300k+ teams entered, there will still be a couple of hundred, if not a couple of thousand that get that balance of risky players right (just by sheer luck/probability). Of course, there will be many thousands more who will go, "why did i risk it on Higgins/Bower/Drummond/Knights et al as a premium again!"

Playing completely safe will probably see you do well in terms of finishing top 5000. But me thinks you need to slot in your bargains and cross your fingers so you dont completely void your chance of actually winning.

Like this team a lot, good structure you have most of the big guns in there. How much is robbie Campbell? You have reasonable depth in the mid bench and hopefully backline if Drum turns out well. Im not sure Hunt will be a good scorer tho.

Yeah Hunt is a bit of an enigma, but I figure with the amount of exposure GC want Hunt will play as many games as possible.
His body could be a bit of an issue. He should be able to stand up to the riguers of AFL, but his fitness base might not be where it needs to be.

Campbell was listed at $198,000 if my memory serves me correct. I'm waiting on NAB cup performances before I lock him in, if he is going to be a risk, there are cheaper options, but if he looks good, he could be a bargain.
