On the record. Do not like how the byes have affected supercoach. So many players I wanted didn't fit into my side when taking byes into consideration.

I don't mind it. Adds another level of complexity.

I've done up a team that I'm pretty happy with, but upon review, the forwards really need a big couple of changes due to clashing byes. Thankfully the rest of the team is well spread.

Yeah, round 6 is doing my head in. I'm starting to think I just have to forget the byes (to an extent), take a hit in the overall that week, have some half decent cover from rookies and think that everyone else is the same.

Yeah round 6 is a ball breaker, 3 potential top 4 teams all out with a bye. If it wasnt for the byes those three teams would feature alot more. It does make the selecting process a bit more skillful, but its far more frustrating.

Going light in the forwards? But I assume thats your strategy.

How come you arent going with the tried and true strategy of blooding a bunch of rookie mids? :p:thumbsu:

Nice set-up and Ideas pretty standard from what ive been seeing so far on this forum. Dont want to be too judgemental because we are still far from the season and we havnt seen the youngsters. Unsure of Coad, Duigan and smith in the starting line-up, although maybe thats just me not knowing who they are and you know something more than the rest of us.
Personally I think Krakouer is better served in the forward line just because it opens up another spot for a gun young midfielder like Polec, conca, Gaff. But if this is done for mpp it is understandable.
Hurley and yarran could be good pick ups and add that person touch to set you apart from the rest, risky though (but there can be big rewards for risks)

Heres my quick crack Salary cap left: $45,900.

Brendon Goddard, Bryce Gibbs, Brett Deledio, Greg Broughton, Josh Drummond, Andy Otten, Dyson Heppell
Ben Jacobs, Karmichael Hunt, Xavier Clarke

Chris Judd, Liam Anthony, Nathan Foley, Daniel Harris, David Swallow, Andrew Gaff
Jared Polec, Mitchell Wallis, Claye Beams

Aaron Sandilands, Darren Jolly
Zac Smith, Nathan Vardy

Lance Franklin, Brent Harvey, Matthew Pavlich, Adam Goodes, Colin Sylvia, Chris Knights, Andrew Krakouer

Definitely unique, but 4 Pies in the Mids may give you some headaches!

Have thought about that.. Might look at it later on :thumbsu:

Just dont know who.

Yeah, 4 pies is a risk, but a risk that i am willing to take..

Dane Swan, supercoach gun, Pendlebury wil hopefully take his game to a new level this year, Sidebottom is a gun that I am hoping will take his game to a new level (at the moment of typing was between him and Beams, Sidebottom will be the better one), and Krakouer, at that price, how can you go wrong :thumbsu:

Duigan has been recruited for a reason, to release Gibbs (along with Laidler) so I can see him getting some games early on. I think Smith will be a nice cash cow, at worst playing 2nd ruck behind Fraser. And I can't see who the GC17 will play ahead of Coad , so he should at least get game time.

As for Krakouer, yeah right I should move him to the forward line and put in a replacement mid :D Thanks

It all looks good until I read your midfield and then I see how you got such good lines everywhere else as you have saved the money in your midfield. I think you would want one more proven elite premium midfielder somehow (for Harris or Anthony).

Bump. Seemed to have been skipped...

^ Your team is looking good s1bbald, hard to knock it without seeing NAB Cup form.

I take it your cover for byes etc is all in place? If so you don't have any obvious weaknesses, maybe a few injury risks in Broughton, Grimes and Chapman etc, but that's picking at it.

The way I see it with the bye situation is there are two different ways to go about it, the league win approach (stacking up on the players who have byes in the multi-buy rounds), or overall approach (avoiding said players more or less, or at least working around them, if they are must haves). This team started off as the first, but through minor tweaks etc. it's become a combination of the two. When I'm almost set on my players is when I'll take byes etc. into account. FWIW, I intend to contribute back into this thread, I'm just working on my research/knowledge base at the moment...

If you click the Red "Drop" Arrows next to every player real quick before it loads you can click them all and clear your whole team pretty quick.

Hopefully that makes sense.

My only question regarding the premiums is why you aren't getting at least a Riewoldt or another ace midfielder for Anthony (Selwood, Dal Santo etc)? Seems very consistent though but no point faulting anything too much at this stage - good job.

Here's my first draft which I'll leave until maybe 2 weeks out from the season:

DEF: Goddard, Gibbs, Deledio, Enright, Trengrove, Otten, Heppell (Toy, Coad, Puopolo)

MID: Swan, Judd, Montagna, Harris, Swallow, Jacobs (Hibberd, Callinan, Beams)

RUCK: Sandilands, Jolly (Smith, Tippett)

FWD: Chapman, Riewoldt, Rioli, Waite, Knights, Petrie, Prestia (Darling, Mzungu, Richardson)

13 solid premiums with $22,800 left over.

This is my first crack on Fanplanner for Super Coach. Going with a guns/rookie strategy this year.

Brendon Goddard, Bryce Gibbs, Brett Deledio, Chris Newman, Andy Otten, Dyson Heppell, Matthew Watson
Michael Coad, Josh Toy, Nicholas Duigan

Dane Swan, Jimmy Bartel, James Kelly, Ryan Griffen, Daniel Harris, David Swallow
Andrew Gaff, Maverick Weller, Isaac Smith

Aaron Sandilands, Dean Cox
Jamie Charman, Cameron Pederson

Paul Chapman, Nick Riewoldt, Cyril Rioli, Travis Varcoe, Drew Petrie, Andrew Krakouer, Brandon Matera
Jack Darling, Tendai Mzungu, Luke Tapscott

I think the rookie spots are still up for grabs depending on pre season form i have $2,800 left but it's a start.

I wouldn't be banking on Watson to play much this year. He may be a good AFL weight, but his endurance/strength wouldn't be upto AFL standard if you are expecting him to play 22 games, and if he does play he will be more a 3rd tall option than a KPP.
