JACKO JUST POSTED ON FB:
To the great supporters at PAFC,

At the end of the 2017 season I walked out of my exit meeting knowing that it would be the last time I would walk through the Alberton doors as a player for the Port Adelaide Football Club.
I've always imagined what my last day at PAFC would look like. I thought I'd be in my 30's, playing my last game after announcing my retirement, thanking and waving goodbye to you all on the Adelaide oval.
As someone who is fiercely loyal, I always thought I'd be a one club player. I made this decision when I was overlooked at the end of the season when I felt like I still could of been a strong contributor to the team.
By leaving now, I am leaving with my head held high, satisfied with my efforts on and off the field and still believing that my best is good enough.
It was an honour to be a part of the PAFC culture. We have had some really good times together. Thank you for the love and support you have given me over the last 8 years, especially all of the messages of support I've received over the last few months. Although I can't respond to every single one, I read them all! I still believe in this club and I wish you all the very best for the future.

Last but not least, my new home... The doggies!!! - Thank you for the opportunity. This is a football club I really felt believed in me from the get go. A fresh start could not come at a better time and I can't wait to get down to Whitten Oval and train with the boys

Jesus, that FB post! Right in the feels. What a man.

Leads me to wonder if he'd played in the EF, and changed the outcome, whether we'd be in this position now. But onwards and upwards, I am warmed by the way Jacko and both Clubs have conducted themselves for the best result for all.

Will plan to make my away trip next year to the Doggies game. Are we in Ballarat again? Do I need to double down on the polar fleece?

Just came to say that you guys are all class, both here and on our board. I don't think I've ever encountered a more reasonable group of fans in a trade situation. Hope everything goes well for you next year!
This guy is universally loved by Port supporters for all sorts of reasons and as sad as we are to see him leave, no-one begrudges him the chance of a fresh start. You are getting a diamond of a bloke, make sure you look after him.

On ya Jacko love your work and no one could ever doubt your love for the club. Good look and god bless

And a big well done to the club to managing his departure with the respect he deserved.

It will be great watching next season - Jacko going head to head with Dixon in our first game against the Bulldogs.

Sorry Jacko, but I'll be hoping for Dixon to kick a bag.

My favourite Jacko story, courtesy of the Dr from earlier in the year ...

Forgot to mention that this morning Jacko was on Triple M and he told a story out of the China trip.

After the game the boys were doing their recovery and headed to the sauna and steam room. Now this was a semi public space. In any case the boys headed down and hopped into the steam room. Some time goes by and Dixon wanders in and says "Gee, you should see the bloke out there. He's completely naked and he's been left well behind in the package department." (All the port players were in speedos).

Jacko decides to head to the sauna next door where some other players were, in the process of wiping the steam out of his eyes, he goes to what he thought were port players only - "Charlie just said there is a guy outside who has not alot going for him between the legs." the boys went silent. Jacko still cleaning his eyes was like "...did I say something wrong?"

Opens his eyes, the port boys are there looking mortified - as the guy is sitting right there with them in the sauna.

Jacko goes bright red and started spinning things to make it look like he wasn't talking about that particular guy, but Jacko ended up slinking out in embarrassment.

:D

Carn, he's just talking about kicking a football. They're in different states now.

Heart and Soul of Port Adelaide this bloke was. Bled black, white and teal more than anyone else on our list.

Really wish him the best in the rest of his career. If anyone deserves it, its Jacko

Im not looking forward to playing WB next season. It will hurt alot seeing him playing against us

kicking 3 goals at home this year is an awesome memory for me. the way bruce called it and him that game was awesome, bruce could tell JT is a real heart and soul player, everyone can tell. PURE 12 and THE COLOSSUS OF PORTS he was, i miss him already
