Society/Culture Father's Day or Special Persons Day? The case for change.

Wow, what an offensive, exclusive OP. This is the type of toxic thinking that divides social standards and attitudes. What i would like to see is a fairer justice system for fathers and puts equality back into decisions and rights of men. The suicide rate is the highest in the world for Australian males, so rather than marginalise, let's be more loving, fair and inclusive.

It's just Hallmark holiday anyway. For years until grandkids came into the equation we stopped bothering with it. Even now it's mostly about them anyway.
Well.
I'm having a great Fathers Day, and I couldn't care less about all the Sad Sacks.
Time for another Crownie with the tin lids....

Why does the original post/article not mention mothers day? It is clearly going to be the first question asked so why not answer it when proposing an idea like this?

Here is an idea for those taking care of kids without a traditional father/mother. Use the word father metaphorically to mean father figure. Use the word mother in mothers day to mean motherly figure.

Unfortunately there are people like Lethality and Kidd Vicious who just hate anyone who actually has a life, and who want everyone else to be as miserable as them.
Long live Fathers Day....

That's what the word special persons day is. If you don't havea father, but a family friend/uncle is your father figure then happy special persons day to them. But seriously the faux outrage at this is funny. Some people just really can't handle change.

Not handling change is different to disagreeing with the proposed change.

trying hard not to laugh at the plebs who want everything to be altered to fit a non stereo type.
I can see it but I just don't like everything to be hosed down all at once.

Just give everyone a chance to learn to like or get used to differences. Don't 'bash' everyone around the head with
all these changes.

Talk of renaming Father's Day to "Special Person's Day."

Talk coming from one person?
Mainly. Seems to have been given a fair bit of coverage by many media outlets though.

Another SJW finding offence in a simple, yet commercial, tradition.

Given the recent focus on the importance of Fathers this was the wrong fight to take up.

It was picked up because it would trigger the easily outraged.

Fathers are important; that's why it's confounding so many of you are upset there can be 2.

Fathers Day is one out of 365 days. Stirrers like you and the other sad no life individuals want to change it.
2 words.......

How many times do you have to be told? Nobody really gives a **** about fathers day. Or mothers day. It's just a commercial thing.

You said you were sitting around getting pissed, so go and get stuck in.

They both would. I don't think it's that confusing to think that father's day could be applied to two fathers.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone use the word 'mom' on Bigfooty before. Are you American?
Of course they both would. as to the american.. 'mom', I guess I am thinking of the multitude of people
who would be viewing this site and plenty in 'Yank Land', and so it was a nomenclature that I used just to
see who would notice it...

and you did... well done for pointing it out, as I wanted it to be... :thumbsu:

For someone who doesn't give a **** you seem to be getting very angry about it.
