There is no evidence that Fev did anything but act like a drunk idiot at the Brownlow the rest is all rumour. Based on these Rumour's supporters are happy for Carlton to get rid off him for basically nothing

I am obviously upset about this Fev leaving he is the heart and soul of the club.

Unless carlton get a suitable deal surely the carlton hierachy have to suck it in and keep him.

I am trying to read between this veil of secrecy, little bits here and there. At present my belief is that while Fev did upset these guys, some more than others, that they could put it behind them with some strict enforcement of rules in place. The current theory is that someone else will step in to see the appropriate steps are taken to ensure justice is done.

Just getting fed little tidbits. You have to realise that some people have a rapport or relationship with others in different places around football, and that straight our revelations finger them and identify them to the sources who no longer trust them as a result.

I am confident that some things happened that Carlton MUST deal with. The rest of it seems to be a whole MIGHT situation. The AFL MIGHT, the media MIGHT, the players MIGHT .... I'm just going to be prepared for anything ... or nothing.

I hear what you are saying TODN.

Yes, one shouldn't blindly avert one's gaze from all rumours.

It's also equally disturbing when rumours are stated, then assumed as true as a basis for action to be taken, which is happening at least as often on these boards.

A few things to think about:

If Fev has done anything illegal, the club actually have a legal responsibility to not withhold information from the police, especially if they plan on releasing this information at a later date.

Anyone who works in the media knows that the complete lack of anyone claiming to be a first hand witness to any of these events makes them highly suspect. I haven't read a single thread stating 'I was there and I saw this...'

Fev IS to blame but so are 3 other parties who had a legal duty of care to all potential victims to put the drunken idiot in a taxi - i) Crown Casino Security, ii) The Carlton Football Club, iii) his employers that night, Channel 9.

ANY proper action from any of these three parties and none of this would've happened. We'd all be discussing instead what a great year he's had and that he hasn't offended since mar 08 when he pissed on a nightclub (replicated by the Richmond captain by the way at the start of this year!).

If no more comes out of this than a bit of push and shove and loud mouth drunken arguing, we all have a right to be furious with the storm in a teacup.

If there are genuine assaults, it's time for the police to become involved.

One last thought, if there is a genuine assault story from inside the Herald Sun (and I'm not just talking about some innocuous drunken sleeziness), why on Earth would Robbo in yesterday's HUN write "...now will someone please explain what happened on Brownlow night that caused all of this?" after suggesting that Carlton should NOT trade Fev. Surely, if he'd heard of an actual assault inside his own organisation, he would never have taken this position.

I must say, I'm suspicious that the deeply offended party is not a player, but an official. This is purely based on my own intuition and what I've heard. Are we defending a player's honour, or their supposed 'demand' to leave or the honour of an offended official from inside or outside of our club?

OMG are you serious. I just don't believe the rubbish rumour mill that has been coming out. Everyone is trying to come up with their own take on what Fev did that was so bad that Carlton wants to get rid of him, when in fact it was just the last straw of a number of events. Lets just say im waiting for the facts to come out. If Fev sexually assaulted a herald sun reporter as reported in a random internet site do you think that the police would be waiting until after trade week the charge him.

I am sick of the sanctimonious replies from people like ODN. If Fev had done something completely wrong then criminal charges would have been laid. They have not been. Obviously he behaved like a fool and offended someone, but this is not a sacking offence. What this whole situation shows is the absolute lack of leadership in the senior players at Carlton, particularly Chris Judd. If Fev was a Lions player and Brown was with him from 2pm at the poker table (as Judd was) then the second Fev started getting out of hand Brown would have grabbed him by the scruff of the kneck, put him in a cab and made sure he went home. How do I know this? Because I live in Brisbane and go out with the Lions boys regularly and have seen Brown do it with numerous players. Very rarerly does the great man get physical, his words alone are enough to control the young Lions. The bulk of the blame for this rests with Fev, but he is not the only problem. We need to confront the lack of leadership from the President down. Dick Pratt would be rolling over in his grave because if he was still at the Club this never would have happened. By all means trade Fev if that is what needs to happen, but stop pretending there is not a massive leadership vacumn at Carlton that needs to be addressed for us to win 17.

Put it this way, if a "Fev" inside your office started behaving like that at the office party etc, and was sexually assualting/harrassing your loved one, how would you react? Would you simply say let's patch things up, and then go home to the loved one and say, "Nah, I'm pretty happy to work with the bloke who sexually harrassed you, we can patch things up" - I wouldn't, I'd want that guy out of the office, what about you?

Totally agree - my thoughts exactly!

Fev must go - whether we get anything for him trade-wise is in my mind now a bonus...

I could not agree more. Can you imagine what Sticks would have done as Captain on Brownlow night, if he saw Fev like that?

Fev thinks he can get away with this shit because he encounters little resistance from his peers, or at least resistance in a form he can't relate to (i.e. using logic and words). Someone like Browny wouldn't have tolerated it.

Eh, they are all grown men, they should be able to sit down and work through any "problems" which have gotten between them and get back to the task at hand, which is to play Football.

Most definitely - with all the goings on the boil may finally have been lanced and Fev might see this as his LAST chance. Don't want Fev to go, and certainly don't want to trade him for the equivalent of a half-eaten cheese sandwich!
