Autopsy Finals 2014 - 1st Elimination Final: North Melbourne v Essendon discussion

North shit first half Essendon shit second half , North will get crucified next week , as would Essendon had they won. Neither are good enough for Port Freo Sydney or Hawthorn. Fact.
Every time in the second half Essendon had a chance to go into the forward line and the place was empty. Well they were trying to stop Norths run on but no one had the run left to go down the front. Neither would have got past next week, North may if, as people are saying Geelong is dead, but that 'll be it.

Makes everyone realise that the finals is a money gathering fest for the AFL. Tonight Nth v Ess waste of time.
So why did you bother to, watch or bother to comment.

But hey, go back to your self indulgent world where Hawthorn should just be given the cup now.

We are five games won into our eight game winning streak.

See you In three weeks.

When's the last time a team won a final with a goal-less quarter?
Sydney, 4th Qtr, 2013 Semi-Final v Carlton. For those playing for the bonus prize, the previous instance involved the two teams again - Sydney, 3rd Qtr, 2010 Elimination Final v Carlton.

Was a really good game of footy in the end, wasn't it?

Brown such an unlikely hero. Love finals where young blokes really announce themselves as serious players, him and Daniher.

He requested it; so yeah.
At the risk of offending Muhammad Ali, I like the boy. The best thing to come out of Tasmania since the ferry.:)

Edit: Such a simple method of kicking for goal: run directly at the target and kick straight through the ball. Not much can go wrong.

A further edit: The straightest kick I've ever seen, Peter Hudson, another Tasmanian, employed exactly the same method, by running straight at the middle of the goals when he kicked. Unlike Brown, Hudson kicked mongrel, flat punts, virtually unerringly. For no apparent reason, I predict the resurrection of the flat punt. Fierce winds have little effect on their trajectory, if you know what you're doing. They seem to just slice through the air. It might also help if you are the genius who was Peter Hudson.

Other than Peter McKenna (who kicked drop-punts), the second-most accurate kick for goal I've seen was Doug Wade. He kicked torps. To use a drop-punt is always fraught with danger, when you meet the pointy bit of the ball with some indeterminate part of your foot, rather than the flat/fat bit of the ball, and the foot, upon which you have more purchase, as did Hudson and Wade. Thus endeth the lesson.

This could have been as electrifying and scintillating as footy gets
.....if it involved Sydney and Hawthorn.
Well done Bombers for hanging in against the
North LANDSLIDE that ALL have been on the end of.
If Cat's play scared again on Friday......

Was huge. Everything he did made a positive impact. That piece of play in the last quarter where he somehow won the contest in the middle of the ground was awesome to watch live. BOG with Thompson and Greenwood not far behind.
Im still dumbfounded at that contest. What the hell happened? Thought Chappy was going to cruise in for a goal.

Special mention to Petrie for the most bizarre and the most awesome goal celebration of the season!
If Matthew Richardson is on the money (and at first blush he seems to be), it's based on 'Frank the Tank' from the film Old School:

massive game from north players, was soo frustrating at the first half. Probably our worst 2nd qtr this season. Was enjoyable seeing ben brown v daniher shoot out with 4 goals each, impressive effort their first finals game.

Gotta love Ben Brown, quickly becoming a fan favourite. Only played a handfull of games and manages to kick 4 goals in a final. Turner's also another one, goes in hard without hesitation. Both have bright futures :D

Can someone make a GIF of Petrie's goal celebration?

Bomber Thompson at his brilliant best during the presser, witty, telling it like it is. It's a shame that he won't be in charge next year.
I'm glad you brought that up! Just reading the bombers thread, well you know just because it's fun! And can't believe how many bomber fans wrote thank God Hird is back next year!

Really? WTF! Has the last 2 years of pain meant nothing? Bomber is a genuine bona fida proven premiership coach. Maybe the bombers just arnt good enough, and bomber got the best out of them. Seriously, I cannot believe they still.....believe! In Hird!

Ya know, If i could dream a little.....It would be great for the finals if North could beat Geelong and we beat Port then Freo. I am so sick of just Hawks and Sydney grand finals. It would be awesome if either North or the Tigers reached the big dance.
KB is that you, l would love that.
