Will be in the 90s easily. Every seat and standing room will be sold, so it depends on the MCC Members turnout. 50% of the MCC Reserve has been pre-sold, leaving approx. 12,000 walk up seats.
I don't know about other Dogs fans but I get goosebumps just thinking about the fact there will be 90k+. We get lucky to play in front of 50+ during the Home and Away season. Both teams will only have a handful of players who have played in front of 80+.

Hawks have the edge over us, 93K and 87K this year alone.

Yep 100%. Is anyone else in the same boat as me with 2016 GF being the last final attended? This being due to a combination of: club playing interstate and getting rolled, not making the finals and COVID? I imagine a heap would be in the same boat.

Looks like this could very well pass the attendance of the 2016 Semi which was 87,800. There would have to be at least 90k+ there right?

"It could be Scott (the poor man's Virgil :) but if the weather is terrible, some of those neutral supporters who purchased tickets for the game might not show up

I’ve attended all our interstate finals since 2016 (excluding 2021 of course) and I think I speak for everyone when I say there were not fun.

Will be good to go to an MCG final that we are actually a chance in.

2021 would've been amazing bar half way through the final.... a damn shame VIC was a prison that kept people in and WA became a prison that kept people out. Crazy times.

Thanks CB. Do you know if they eventually shut MCC walkups out if it gets too full once gates open? I know so many neutral MCC members going due to the lack of MCG finals for this year.

Can’t say for certain, but assuming you’ve purchased an MCC members guest pass you shouldn’t have any issues getting in, it’ll just be whether or not you can manage to get a decent seat.

Early arrival, you should be right.

Are you sure? I thought an SC membership and presumably barcode guaranteed you a ticket. In that case, the barcode would have to indicate a different weighting/priority than one that represents a 3 game membership
Social Club get a guaranteed Grand Final ticket if we make it, I don't think there is any special priorities for the other finals. All members get same access and first in best dressed situation for first three weeks of finals.

Only ticket you're guaranteed of getting with the social club member add-on is the Grand Final, because those GF ticket allocations to the club are set by the AFL, not Ticketek or the MCC as part of the contract. Hence the special event legislation on ticket re-sales.

For the GF the club then has determine the breakdown of its allocation to
  • coterie groups
  • premium members including social club uplifts
  • Then what's left over goes to a member ballot for those without guaranteed tickets.

The SC or general member Barcode has no guarantees during weeks 1-3 except providing eligibility for club member presales via ticketek. That is pure chook lotto

For the Grand Final

Collectively members of competing clubs, AFL members and MCC receive almost 75,000 tickets (75% of capacity). Competing clubs are allocated 17,500 out of the 75,000 tickets

Then the 25,000 remaining tickets go to general admission, corporate junkets, corporate boxes, premium AFL sponsors...

So many learnings in this thread

On the assumption it is a database issue, the problem could lie with either the club and/or ticketek.

My logic way of thinking about it is this. You have a database full of memberships right, but only a portion will be eligible for finals priority. So select all memberships eligible for finals priority and send to Ticktek. Now it is entirely up to the club to send the data over to Ticketek, no if or buts.

Now Ticketek simply grab the data and upload it into their system for user access/entry on the day - if they don't do this part properly or completely then thats where a portion of fans miss out.

It's impossible to know who's truly at fault here without being in the know in one or either side of the fence - but its the club and the ticket merchant that are involved here. 50/50 chance

Could be as simple as when the combined list were pulled together, the numbers may have been formatted differently for reserved seat members in the CSV or excel file and a vlookup couldn’t register.

Reserved seat members may have had a some letters prefix the numbers in our DB (e.g RS1234567890). The work experience kids googling finds him a lovely little formula =right(A2,10). You beauty, we’ve removed the prefix let’s copy and paste these lists together and get them off to Ticketek. Oops, format is general for non-reserved and text for reserve seats.

The above is no doubt overly simplistic, but whatever happened, it’s absolute amateur hour.

I think it's a good thing that this year members at least have a chance to see us in the Finals, though obtaining tickets for some has been a hassle. It'll be worth it Friday at about 10pm. The hard work of the team and you supporters will pay off bigly! Wish I could be there with you.

Who wouldn’t love to see this again… : Bulldogs days since last flag = 1 😁

To those saying it was Ticketek's fault, and not the club, that is wrong.

I am the first to complain about the ticket outlets, but not this time.

Hawthorn members did not have this problem. The only complaints I've seen from Hawthorn supporters were them saying the tickets had sold out, when in fact the tickets had not sold out, just the category of ticket they were trying to buy.

I have not seen any complaints about the barcodes being invalid.

Sorry, but this is on the club. They gave the wrong database to Ticketek.
Thanks MYOB yes I definitely blamed Ticketek. Given what I have heard from yourself and London Bulldog I concede it seems like it was a Club mistake.

What I said still holds true though but in many ways it’s even worse if it’s the the club that made the mistake because they should have better QA processes or make sure of something so important as getting the barcode information correctly given to the ticket seller. This sort of a mistake should be foreseen and they have really let down their members and supporters who have given them so much over so many years. Especially Gold and Silver reserved seat members. The last home final we had was in 2016, 8 years is a long time to wait and pay to have that chance to get a decent seat taken away by an act of incompetence is something that someone should be held accountable for, it’s not good enough.

I was lucky that I wasn’t affected personally, but I just feel so bad for those members that were.

It's not my area of expertise but I'm guessing that your card barcode essentially becomes obsolete once finals start and they create a new database of barcodes to reflect ticketing priority. Seems like someone forgot to delete the superceded database and then issued it as the finals db/barcodes.

The reason for the new db being that priority finals ticketing allocation aren't built into and transferable in the H&A season barcode.

Maybe they should be. I just don't see how that can be that hard. They are for AFL members.

Happy for IT gurus to trash any assumptions I've made here coz I really have nfi how it works.
That’s not how it worked for me. I used the same barcodes I have used all year. I didn’t rely on the message from the club. When I did go back and check it they sent me the same numbers that I used, so I don’t think they provided a whole new set of numbers. At least not for me.

Yet we still haven’t heard from the club, just not good enough.

One question purely out of interests. What is the deal with the game selling out so quickly? In past years a Dogs Vs Hawks final would usually get around 80k and tickets are usually on sale well into the week.

Is it because we won a premiership (relatively) recently and we are no longer the laughing stock on the competition?

Anyone here MCC and planning to lineup to get a seat when the gates open at 5pm? I'm going with 2 other dogs fans, keen to know what time I should be in the line to ensure we get 3 decent seats together in the unreserved bays. I am shattered there is not unreserved on level 4 as I prefer to sit there.

For these sort of finals there’s not really a queue after the gates have been open for half an hour, after that your best option is to ask an attendant for 3 tickets don’t try an look for seats. If you get there before the gates open you’ll get decent seats, you probably need to be there half an hour before they open to have the best options.

Dogs haven't played a final in Melbourne since the GF, Hawks haven't played in a final for a long time as well. Plus only final in Melbourne in Week 1.

Also, there are 140,000 members between the 2 clubs.
