I don't blame the current board. They were dealt a poor hand by Archie Disaster and the earlier decisions of previous boards (although I accept that some remain).

Thanks, I haven't paid much attention to board etc until recently. I was just wondering if it was an option since all the rumors are about everyone else at the club being shown the door except them.

Ashley Prescott a great pick up, well done. I'm starting to see through the haze and think the club is going about it in the right way. We may lose a million bucks but with the tv dal is dent matter at all, when we go back up the ladder we will pick those members up again so its all swings and round abouts.

can i get your views on why you think its a great get?

I agree Rahul. Personally I dislike her prose and tendency to sensationalise but her facts are far truer than she is ever given credit for. Caro's recent article was basically a repeat of a PM that I read the week prior..... She is more of a pure journalist as you say and less influenced by the social circles that she keeps (although not completely).

The true test for Caro in my eyes is if she comes out and says that we are cleaning up our act instead of saying nothing.

One thing is for sure - she knows more than Greg (I have no inside mail or idea about football) Denham. Honestly - how does that bloke get a gig in the media  Or Damien (I couldn't interview Robin Williams and get my info from BF) Barrett.
Barks i appauded her work in regards to the Essendon doping scandal..
She's chasing a headline at our expense, but the club needs to respond in a manner that doesn't feed Caro's appetite for a cheap headline..
Actually, she really giving me the shits right now to be honest..!

can i ask why you think its a great get?

Was just about to ask same question???
What have people heard about him that makes him better than Laidley?.
Just cos we pick him , that doesnt make him any good.
Or have you actually heard good reports on the bloke.
If he comes with good credentials im happy as well:thumbsu:

Well his old man did play for the Saints and he did grow up supporting us. He had a pretty good coaching career at Claremont and was well liked at the Dons. I know he really enjoyed working as a development coach with the young Essendon blokes and they were spewing when he moved to Freo.
I think he will spend most of his time with the 1-4 year players, hopefully he has similar success to what he had with Essendon's kids.

Sounds like he's replacing Jaymie Graham and not Dean Laidley ;)

Will that be before or after the apology for the schoolgirl reporting?
(she linked it again in reporting on Stephen Milne this year)

He's respected amongst the players, from what i'm led to believe..

Lyon is known for turning his assistants over..

So Prescott & my old teamate Steve Grace leaving the Dockers, nothing should be read into it..

They were both out of contract..

Was a big show to score the assistant's job at WCE, until Pyke got the job..

"Former Fremantle and Essendon assistant coach and development specialist Ashley Prescott was overlooked by Eagles powerbrokers in their search for support staff to work with Simpson.

Prescott is understood to have been told that he would not join West Coast after he had been widely expected to win a specialist coaching appointment or go into a substantially expanded Eagles development team."

She's still heads & shoulders above what News Ltd serve up..

I agree mate. She sat on her recent article for about a week then dropped it in on a slow news day. Chasing the sensationalism angle.

I would like to see the club respond much better than before (wouldn't be hard) but it won't happen until we have everything sorted in our back-office. Mind you - Summers nailed about ten issues in one interview recently. he took the wind out of about 5 contentious topics that were subsequently dropped by the media. I like the cut of his jib.

(and by the way - it is not hard to be better than the Hun :p- a low bar )

Did he go for a Senior role a few years back and get close? I might be completely off base but it rings a bell with me.

I wouldn't be against Mark Neeld as a midfield assistant coach. Was a good assistant coach at the Pies and I've noticed a bunch of Pies fans also rated him as an assistant was just a shit senior coach.

Don't go killing me.

Personally my opinion is he is an absolute flake under pressure , quite possibly the worse body language i have ever seen on one of the coaches of the last 10 yrs. Just seemed so out of his depth it wasnt funny.
But.....if it did happen and our board deems him suitable for the pressure of a assistant role. Then i have to back my feelings that the StKilda Footy club know alot more about footy than i do and i would support the decision 100%:thumbsu:

St Kilda Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Adam Basil as its new High Performance Manager.

Basil joins the Saints after six years as both Strength & Conditioning Manager and Sports Science Manager at Melbourne Victory between 2006-2012 (including A-League Championships in 2007 & 2009) before he established an elite performance business coaching professional athletes around Australia.

Before commencing his career as a performance coach, Basil represented Australia in the final of the Men's 4x100m Relay at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games.

"I am genuinely excited to be joining St Kilda ahead of the 2014 season. The Club is undergoing significant change within its player group and to be given the opportunity to work with some of Australia's best professional footballers will be a wonderful experience," Basil said.

Basil will commence employment with the Saints on Monday, 4th November 2013.

Does anybody know anything about this Adam Basil, the new fitness guy

Adam Basil is also Josh Kelly's Private sprint coach...............................Just saying ;)

Prescott would be a great get, just look at how the Purple Peril's midfield has flourished this year. I generally rate an assistant by how players seem to do under their care, means they're either lucky or good.

Is that because of Prescott though? Freos midfield is very senior and established, Prescott was a development coach at freo reporting to Lloyd and wasn't a line assistant
