The AFL would love the idea of having an Olympian and WNBA championship winner in the competition. It'd be hard to find a better way of boosting the new comps profile.

Gives us a real edge for getting the license over Radelaide as well.

It's just not the news everyone was expecting or really hoping for, so it gets a mixed reaction. If this was announced stand-alone it would have got an almost 100% positive reaction.

Not sure they got the timing/handling right for the reactionary sentiment of the announcement, but they certainly got it right for getting people to talk about it, be that negative or positive.

A PAFC team would probably attract more interest than an unbranded state team, because the supporter base for a state women's football team is pretty niche. Aligning to an AFL team expands reach, it doesn't shrink it.

In what world is a new league with its first marquee signing not big news? People genuinely are spoiled. Judge this announcement on its merits, not the fact it isn't what you wanted.

Great work by the club to pedestal this news as a major announcement and worthy of christmas present status... it shows the AFL world that we are 100% serious and committed about getting our womens team up!!!
