I don't have Pay TV, how could I watch it. But thank you for making my point, sorry to interrupt your umpteenth viewing of a game from 1983.:thumbsu:

How can you be critical of something you dont watch ? Leave us who do have FoXFooty to enjoy it while it lasts (White line Fever etc.) - and I would rather watch games from the 80's than some of the rubbish thats been served up this year on free to air. Apparently in the NRL they plan the programming in 6 week blocks so that the best games get Friday nights etc.

The channel builds on an impressive sports portfolio, which already includes
Fox Sports 1, Fox Sports 2, Fox Sports News, Fox Footy Channel, ESPN, Fuel TV, A1, Eurosport News and Sky Racing.

You'd think if they were going to replace it they would've announced it by now.

Thats crap Foxtel will be televising 3 or 4 games next year. What you are probably referring to is that games finish on that date (grand final day) so there will be no more games other than replays until season 2007 commences.

Foxtel will be showing live football in 2007

A bit harsh on my part, the sun rarely shines in Melbourne, plus in Perth we have our game televised every week no matter what, for Freo and Budgie fans. Vics are excused, everyone else, GET A LIFE!:D
You know those people at the dockers games who support interstate teams.. some of them do actually live here, not every one in Perth goes for the Shockers or the E-Girls

Are you talking about those people in the funny colours who cheer when the other team kicks a goal, is that what they are, thanks for that. Lifes to short mate, lighten up.:)

Those figures are terrible! Especially if they're national. 64,000 people watching an AFL game nationally - no wonder they're pulling up stumps. You nearly get more people in the stadium than watching it at home..

They are not national figures, because Fox Footy rarely broadcasts games nationally. The 3 AFL games quoted were not, i.e

Bulldogs v Port was not shown on Fox Footy in Adelaide (FFC showed Brisbane v Richmond). Adelaide average audience was 166,000, taking the total audience to 277,000.

West Coast v Kangaroos was not shown on Fox Footy in Perth (FFC showed Sydney v Melbourne). Perth average audience was 264,000, taking the total audience to 348,000.

Fremantle v Hawthorn was also not shown on Fox Footy in Perth (FFC showed Kangaroos v Port). The average audience there was 220,000, taking the total audience to 284,000.

All 3 games had a far greater audience than any of the mentioned NRL matches.

For Fox Footy as a whole, they are generally the 3rd or 4th highest rating channel on pay TV (during footy season), behind Fox Sports 1, Fox8, and sometimes behind the Lifestyle channel. FFC comfortably outrates Fox Sports 2.

Last week is a reasonable enough example:

I wouldn't get all suicidal about losing Fox Footy. The games will still be there to watch and there will still be AFL-related shows like WLF or GOM and Saturday Central. Personally, I love the footy channel, but I've only had Foxtel for three months and can't see myself watching it much over summer. Just my opinion, but I'm rapt to see more cricket and A-League and EPL on the TV. I don't think it spells the death of AFL on Foxtel. Far from it.

Re: Fox Footy

Well here's to Fox footy for its years it's been on for i don't know but i hope for the best for the people who dedicated their work to the channel.
Well it looks like another battle begins for 7 and 10 to who gets the three games.

Re: Fox Footy

bah. Im more annoyed at losing it for summer than anything else. Was great getting to see the games from the past 5 years during the off season. Thats ****ed me off more than losing it for the on season.

Re: Fox Footy

like another member, the thing that concerns me is the changes in their packages.

i'm now on lifestyle or whatever it's called, about $75 or so a month, and i get all the sports channels. will fox sports 3 be included in this? if so, fine, but the only packages mentioned above as being involved in it are the new sports package and the old 'basic' package.

so what gives??

More Sport On Fox, For Free
Rob Gillam - Wednesday, 31 May 2006

Fox Sports 3 will be broadcast free-of-charge for Foxtel Digital, Austar Digital and Optus TV digital subscribers as part of the My Sport Tier, and also for Foxtel Digital customers on the former Basic package.

From this I would gather that is you can get the sports channels now (FS1, FS2, Fox Footy etc.) you will get FS3 for no extra cost.

Not happy to lose the Fox Footy if the majority of the content disappears next season.

But the bonus sports wise is that the domestic cricket will be shown and to be honest, i rarely watch Fox Footy over the summer months anyway. More so this year as i have taped quite a few games on the IQ hard drive :thumbsu:

Those figures are very good for pay TV I dont see Foxtel/News/Packer can afford to downgrade the AFL coverage. As usual the thugby idiots have twisted the figures to suit their dying game.

If the AFL goes onto Fox Sports, doesn't that potentially mean AFL could be shown in two Fox Sports channels at the same time?

Eg. Monday - a replay of a game from 11-1.30 on FS2 and another game on replay at the same time on FS3?

Channel 7 will try all they can to destroy Fox Footy . Losing this channel will set the game back. Let's all boycott Ch 7 if we lose Fox Footy Channel.
We will NOT get the same coverage of footy on any other channel.

Channel 7

I don't think Freo fans should crack jokes about cheering when the other team kicks a goal. ;)

I hate to agree with a Richmond supporter. Channel 7 will destroy Football.
