Buddy's current teammates (including Lake just this week) have stated that they think he'll stay. Who knows....I'm not going to give up hope due to Callan's guts.
I'm pretty sure that by the time we have the FINAL and absolute decision emanating from Buddy's lips we will have also heard the lofty opinion (re WWBD*) of pretty well every bl00dy commentator, player, footy administrator, bookie, hairdresser, tattooist and burger flipper known to man-kind.

* What Will Buddy Do

Did you expect his teamates to say he will go.

As for Callum, he may say its a gut feel, but he has experience in all this, he played the Bulldogs like Buddy is playing all of us when he wen't to GWS.

John Ralph was on SEN this morning and said he thinks he'll go cause that's what people close to Franklin are thinking. Take that for what it's worth.

Was also interesting to hear Shane Crawford say that he thinks he'll stay on the sunday footy show, you would think Craw still has a lot of contacts in the football department, so that was encouraging.

I think if the Essendon thing wasn't happening, this would be a much bigger issue for us. I would love to announce he is staying on the eve of the finals, imagine the momentum it would give us going into September.

No, although the players can trot out the `he's currenlty a contracted player and we'll wait til the end of the year' line and avoid commenting. No one (other than Buddy and Pickering) really knows (assuming Buddy has made up his mind, and I'm not convinced either way that he has).... Ward finished his quote with `I've got no idea'.

Hawthorn has changed its tact since the booing of Franklin, previously the above line used bought an uncertainty and negativity in the minds of the media and the supporters....The simple message of I think he will stay, brings a positive vibe to both the club Franklin and our supporters.

Thats all good and well, But that doesn't take away that Ward has been in Franklin's position....Either way we will all know soon enough. I still thinks its damning that our best and final offer has been presented........

During his two week absence he has informed the club and leadership group that he is leaving as the money offered is to good to refuse. He was embraced by the coaches & leadership group and given their blessing. Hence the new relaxed frame of mind Buddy. (insert red herring emoticon)

Is this what you've heard or what you think?

Red herring is an English-language idiom that refers to a logical fallacy that misleads or detracts from the actual issue.[1] It is also a literary device that leads readers or characters towards a false conclusion, often used in mystery or detective fiction.

Surely all those that jumped ship like Ward, Scully, Ablett would be sprouting "he's gone".

It makes their treachery more pallitable.

;)

I don't think you can blame Ward & Scully for leaving the Dogs & Melbourne, not exactly the brightest futures.

As for Ablett you can't blame him either, he'll always be a Geelong legend and it presented him with a challenge he had yet to conquer.

I don't see any of that applying to Buddy however and I'm slowly starting to think he may just stay...

Sorry, I said from the day he refused to re-sign , he would go, and I still do..HE will GO!:(

If you know he's going, don't get so up tight about it.

As much as I love him, if he goes he'll go and Hawthorn will move on.

Won't be the end of the world. Perspective people, perspective,

Buddy to announce his re-signing just hours after the Bombers severe punishment is handed out.

That would make my year.

Followed by Vlads humiliating axing.

Yeah and maybe the premiership.

Well, you do have a good point. Would you be announcing such a bit of awesome news - assuming, of course, he has re-signed - when we're right in the midst of the biggest scandal to plague footy?

It would, I imagine, be a stage-managed affair for maximum exposure and advantage to all concerned.

So, right now, with James Hird injecting such shame into the game, might not be the opportune time to break the news.

That's all presupposing he has made up his mind, has told the club etc.

Maybe Shady knows already that Buddy isn't interested.
Seems to me that he has started to change his tune.

He's done this a couple of times - speaking one day as though it's a fait accompli that they're going to get Buddy and then turning around the next day saying that it's not just about Buddy and they only want him if he's committed blah de blah..... Easy way to get GWS publicity.

Just like what Buddy is doing for us, with putting contract talks on Hold.

Easy way to get HFC publicity.
