Was also interesting to hear Shane Crawford say that he thinks he'll stay on the sunday footy show, you would think Craw still has a lot of contacts in the football department, so that was encouraging.

Up until a few weeks ago Crawf was saying he thinks Bud will go, so maybe he's heard something for him to change his tune?

Everytime i have heard Crawf mention anything about Buddy's contract he has said he is staying and that is one of the main reasons i have been mainly confident that he will stay!

He was of the opinion earlier that Buddy couldn't refuse the offer from GWS, and that he thought Bud would go
He has definitely changed his tune in the last week or so

Crawf is just stating what he believes like many of us have. If he was certain Buddy would sign, why hasn't Buddy just accepted the deal already and signed??

IMO Buddy still wants to wait until the end of the season to see the deals on offer and make a considered decision then. I think he is more inclined to stay now than earlier in the year but he still won't make that decision until the end of the season.

Damian Barrett reported on TFS tonight that "the feeling has changed down at Hawthorn in the past couple weeks regarding whether or not he'll go".

Not much and kind of seems he just didn't want to look like he might not be in the know after all of Crawf's coy comments and sly looks on the matter.

I know Walls is not exactly revered by many in here, but he has written a very logical piece in The Age.
In fact, it follows the line of thinking many on here have.

Maybe he is keeping his word and waiting till the end of the season!
He has said this from day 1, and all the way through
Doesn't mean Hawthorn are in the dark regarding his decision
Just my opinion

He wouldn't have a clue.

I stated earlier in the thread that the hierarchy down at Hawthorn have moved from 50/50 to 80/20 that he is staying since the final offer, the most promising thing has been that he is now engaging with Hawthorn in regards to it as opposed to showing no interest in the situation which he has done for the most part of the year.

The fact that he has shown no interest in contract talks with anyone to this point is the reason there is yet to be any offer put to Franklin from GWS, apparently they have become very frustrated with the situation which leads me to believe that Buddy is being Buddy and has not really at any point considered leaving, his subconcious tweets about playing with Suckers next year are testament to that.

These clowns like John Ralph are just forming their opinions based on numbers being thrown around, they wouldn't have the slightest.

I heard a rumour earlier in the week that Buddy had verbally agreed to our latest contract but at this point I'm treating that as very much a rumour, grain of salt type stuff but the signs are promising on and off the field of late it would seem.

I have gone from being convinced he was gone to convinced he is staying in the last 2-3 weeks.

There are a few people out there who share that very view.

Sounds promising, hopefully things looking good
Thanks for sharing :thumbsu:

I've had a change of thought in the last 2 months to why Buddy hasn't signed, my view is Buddy is still reeling from last years grand final, he wants redemption and holds an unjustified amount of blame on himself for missed chances and wants no distractions between him and his goal. He knows a 2 million odd contract will be hard to refuse and doesn't want a decision (a life changing decision) hanging over his head. Come season end he will have time to think about his decision without worrying about the situation affecting him or other people close to him. He will accept the hawthorn deal and have the whole preseason to get over the money he kissed good bye.

Dunstall said we have Plan A, Plan B and Plan C ready to go.

I unlike others think the longer this drags on tells me he is GONE.

Imagine being a star player of a premiership contender and this was a decision you had to make.
-If you tell everyone you are leaving its a no win for anyone
-You risk being made a scapegoat if your form and teams form slumps
-You continue to be asked about GWS when you are trying to focus on what your current employer pays you very well to do.

Surely he must be thinking to himself-
Do the right thing by the club and help them win a premiership and then leave knowing you have ticked all the boxes and given everything you have got.

But, not hearing doesn't necessarily mean he hasn't agreed to terms. He might have been locked down weeks ago.

One could pose the question based on supposition that he staying: why would they delay the announcement?

Just a different way of looking at it.
