Ralph has all along maintained buddy is gone and will be at gws next year. Not sure why he has not signed with hawks if he is staying put. Surely this close to the end of the season his mind and decision would be made up.

Billy Longer will be at the Hawks next year.

Hodge Birch Goo Duryea Gibson Lake Shoey Stratton Burgoyne Suckling (Kelly Litherland Spangher)

10 does not fit into 6 though........its a massive headache.

Goo Lake Gibson
Stratton Shoey Birchall

It is indeed. Spangher, for mine, is purely depth and insurance. Could be brought in for a role maybe. But unless we're smashed with injuries, can't see him getting a regular gig. Goo is probably entering the twilight of a great career, but after the game he played last week who knows. But I suspect Duryea will transition in for him.

With the crazy-arse rotations that Clarkon has in place in too, a guy like Suckling could find himself playing in more roles too. Unlike Birch, he can probably play more positions than HBF.

I agree with the majority of what you said, its the bold which bothers me most about suckling.....first and foremost as a defender your ability to play/nullify your opponent in a contested situation in my eyes is a pre- requisite. I have major concerns on suckling in this area which again was exposed on Grand Final day.

If I was an opposition coach, I would be directing my team to play through Sucklings man.

Funny, someone I know in the game says that he thinks while Suckling is an awesome kick he also thinks he has the slowest hands in the business, and that's what can catch the team out a bit too.

I dunno, what Suckling creates, and the drive he gives, might more than compensate for any looseness. What i love about Lake, is while he might concede goals in patches, the drive and assurance he offers more than makes up for it. Especially when he's snagging goals himself.

I think the dash, drive and skill of the 'first choice half back line' is a structural thing that helps make off=set our slower mids. It also gives us a great flexibility to take on different defensive structures too. Suckling can c;ear a zone, switch play effortlessly when his kicking is on. Birch has the dash combined with the disposal etc etc.

I can see your point, but taking it all holistically, I reckon he's a vital cog in our team.

Not saying I wouldn't like the GWS kid though.

With Lake coming in, I thought Suckers would end up on a wing.
His delivery into the F50 would be downright dangerous for opposition teams.

In today's article Ralph says that Buddy 'seems likely' to leave. Not sure if he's backing down a bit from his earlier 'catagorical' claim (sorry for not providing link- running late!).

Back on the Buddy subject for a sec.........
I see Ross Lyon on 6pr tonight said Freo will chase Jesse White from Sydney
He is a restricted free agent at the end of the year
First Taylor, then Reiwoldt, now White, but not interested in Buddy?
C'mon Roscoe, tell the truth!

Because he told Clarko they wouldn't...

Here is the link but it is behind a paywall.

Jon Ralph-io really is a tool. He writes a whole article about players leaving clubs (speculating that Franklin will leave the Hawks) and talks about how awesome Geelong have been at keeping their best players.

HELLO D$CKHEAD - Ablett left Geelong and Buddy hasn't left Hawthorn yet! If he does, then you can compare crap teams that everyone leaves with the two best 'destination' clubs Hawthorn and Geelong.

I remember looking at houses that my wife and i wanted to buy at auction. There were a few people who we saw at every open-for-inspection we went to. They looked rich and their parents were there with them - they also looked rich. As the months wore on, I just wanted the cashed up people to buy a house so they would stop bidding against us and we would have a chance at actually winning an auction.

GWS are cashed up and after Buddy, so Lyon is looking in a different suburb (maybe...)

I thought when I saw Buddy looking so happyt on Fri night, he MAY have made his mind up to stay. But he has probably made his mind up now to go. More and more point to him going, IF he truly loved the Hawks, he wouldn't be going anywhere. But, he will go, no doubt in my mind..:(

I don't get it.
Are GWS buying a house for Buddy?

Or are Buddy's rich parents buying him a house?

BM, I have not swayed from what I have felt right from the start. Buddy WILL stay...
My mind was made up then..;)
Yep, I know you believed from day 1 he'll be a Hawk, and I'm with you Glasgow
I meant LMH changing her mind, not all girls, forgive me Glasgow :D
