If there needs to be compensation, it should be ranking salary to the draft point index rather than being pegged to ladder position.

Also, any compensation should be based only on total deal value. The manipulation for age and contract duration is dumb.
 
I agree, it was an example of the ridiculousness of using past contracts to justify future compo.

Why ridiculous? It's the team losing the player that's being compensated, so why shouldn't the compo be based on where the player sat in the pay structure of that team?

I hope the review picks up on several issues.

* limiting access of top teams to free agency recruits from struggling teams

* The RFA status of previously delisted players is problematic. While my mob benefited it is odd we were able to pick up a 22 year old in Jordon because he had once been delisted.
