So apparently Jackson is carrying something which is why he was barely used in the ruck last night. Really can’t afford to lose him for next game

Fyfe's got a stress fracture in his foot.

"Merriman said Fyfe had now entered a ‘de-load period’ and that the Club remained hopeful that the 31-year-old would feature again later in the season. “We have now put him in a boot, so he is going into a period of de-load. “We are going to see how his foot is after this period of de-load and we are hopeful that we will see him again this season.”

All this talk about season over. Football is a funny game. I think we can reserve hope until we lose another one. If we beat Carlton suddenly an upset against the pies wpuld mean we start talking about top four again 😂

The chances are low but far from zero. I remember in our crap days I used to keep praying for finals until it was mathematicaly impossible. Now we give up when we are one win outside the 8. Sad.
Look at the injury list. Only Fyfe and Tabs perhaps 22, but other then that it’s best 22-25 every week. Club should take it all the way until mathematically impossible.

Fyfe injured is actually exactly what we need, not in that a very good player is unavailable but that a very good player with the groups respect is there motivating the players to achieve great results - similar to doing it for Mundy without being so exposed defensively in the middle. Perhaps think of it like Bob Murphy motivating his team from the sidelines when he missed the flag with an ACL.

That figure of leadership to get them fired up before they run out so that they start at the start.

Since the dice is already rolling we may as well try and make the best of where they landed. We can't undo his foot damage.

The side is getting a lot less experienced without him, but maybe there's still something for him to do on game day.

4 points off 8th.
This season is unpredictable. It’s still alive
4 pts + a lot of percentage. Effectively 8 points. Will not make it from here IMO which will not cut me up too much as we are in the bottom 3 clubs in terms of age and experience. Best is still to come.

Regarding Fyfe..other then being shitty news for the bloke it will not hurt the club. He is a shadow of the player he was.

We could use this as an opportunity to pump games into Erasmus and Worner However we all know that Bailey will be back in.

I’d be happy with Banfield and Worner for Fyfe and Hughes. Hughes looked all at sea, I think the finger was troubling him.

I think he was carrying it last week as well, because I distinctly remembering Treacy contesting a centre bounce against Essendon while Jackson was in the forward line. He did contest some ruck contests against Essendon and played very well (but only 6 hitouts), but I don't think this niggle has just appeared. I reckon he has picked it up when doing the #1 ruck role while Darcy was injured.

Fyfe has gone from a biomechanical freak to a biomechanical nightmare.

They should put him away for the season and just train him up for one last crack at it.

Poor bloke.

What’s almost worse is how much it’s messing with his head. I’m hoping it’s the foot but his kicking is a debacle & he can’t seem to judge the ball in flight or jump over opponents. He drops half the marks he gets his hands on and his set shot is the stuff of nightmares.

A few times when he’s been on the run he has kicked lovely balls but it seems any time he has to stop & think he’s just panicking & turning it over.

I fear for his mental health if he can’t find a way to just start enjoying himself playing football again.

His last game before Darcy was injured he had 33 ruck contests. He had 9 and 16 in his last two games respectively. Probably something in that.

Fyfe being out again is sad, but it might be time for him to consider whether or not it's worth it to keep going on, he has to be broken both physically and mentally after so many stop starts.

He's got nothing left to prove to fans, he's had one of the best careers in football history, his health needs to come before anything else.

No criticism of the medical team for not picking this up earlier before it was a full blown stress fracture?

Well a bit hard to differentiate it from the plantar fasciitis?

If Fyfe was feeling pain in the foot I’m sure it would’ve been fully attributed to his current issue, so wouldn’t have been a cause for concern until the pain got as bad as it did on the weekend. He’s not gonna be going in for weekly scans.
