Freo supporters have been telling everyone for years that the Genius is pure quality. It's only now that everyone is starting to notice.

Because only last year did he fully use his skills, or did he have injuries.

I can't remember but i was surprised he never got aa selection last year.

His actual disposal is fine (I'm not saying he's bad at the other stuff either, just that Kennelly and Shaw are better).

Kennelly and Shaw are both a little more eye catching because of the dashing way they play, but Hayden has better ball handling than both of them.

Watch him next time Freo play. He just never fumbles, no matter how much pressure he is under. He's also the best mark of any backman his size imo.

He's been pretty good over the last 18 months but personally I'd take Adcock & Shaw just ahead of Hayden. Gilbee & Mcleod are the stars and must be well ahead. I'd put him on the same level as Kennelly & P.Burgoyne.

Definitely in the top echelon of small backman and borderline gun. He's getting to the stage where teams start to develop strategies to combat him and that is the point where I'd consider a player a gun.

H Shaw is so far in front of him it is not funny, as are a number of other small defenders.

Must say I watch him most weeks and he never puts a foot wrong. I think he now edges out Wirra (who plays forward alot anyway these days) and Johncock.

Doesnt seem to get much media that I have noticed but he is a gun in my book.
