No one can truly accuse me of bad faith. I really tried to understand and even defend Port's current leadership.
We can be emotional and exaggerate statements. Opinions may go back and forth until one makes his mind. My experience as a Port supporter is no different. The posts below should be evidence of that.
I have arrived here during the 2017 season as blank slate. Yet, after the 2018 season, I was sold. Still, even then I was able to naively have some "faith in Ken Hinkley" and think that we may had been "moving into the right direction". This was as late as March 2019.
I seem to have abandoned such opinions less than a month later. It's when the "journey in posts" ends. I could check for more, if you want me to. Although it will probably be only more of the same; more than FIVE YEARS of the same. [Some of you have been through this for even longer than me. I know. Yet a lot of people pretend the current situation has come out of the blue. This post is also for them.]
Things haven't changed much at all. The signs have always been there. I'm showing you my way towards recognizing, acknowledging, and finally accepting them for what they are: the truth.

2017
In five years, he has certainly established a system and taught it to his players. I haven't seen it much, but it looks like something that works. Whether such a combination of system and personnel is enough for a Top-4 finish and a strong Finals (or a Premiership!), this is still to be seen.
(06/26/2017 – I have faith in Ken Hinkley)
He missed the finals two seasons in a row, after a really good run in 2014. I have no idea what has happened after 2014, but it looks understandable the pressure on him this season. He cannot afford being out of the finals.
(06/26/2017 – I have faith in Ken Hinkley)
I am afraid of OUR demons, like Lotzovbeehyndz, Zlowdyfenz... We need to exorcize them. Please, Fr. Hinkley!
(07/18/2017 – Melbourne v Ports @MCG)
Hinkley has always passed me a good impression. I'm following this team since... 2017, but it is weird like, even reading about our struggles, some of his mind-boggling decisions, his tenure at the club, etc., such an impression has actually solidified. I can be mistaken, delusional even, but I like him.
(08/04/2017 – The Media….Nods Head)
Hinkley should be gone tomorrow. I don't care how much I like the guy — and I do like. But it is over. I wish him luck, but he needs to be somewhere else.
(08/06/2017 – Round 20 vs Adelaide)
I don't know who the Footy director/VP/president is, but he doesn't need to fire Hinkley necessarily — if he resigns. He is the main responsible for this. The replacement, then, fires Hinkley.
(08/06/2017 – Round 20 vs Adelaide)
Koch and Thomas believe Hinkley's plan is good and might work. We have seen glimpses of it this season. However, it didn't look sustainable at all. It still is a huge bet after four years. Hopefully, we will be able to kick the ball better in the years to come...
(09/18/2017 – Hinkley is staying - 3 year contract extension)
In 2017, Port was its worst enemy, and Hinkley was part of the problem. But I don't think we are transfering responsibilities. We have shown awereness of our shortcomings and a willingness to deal with them.
We have brought in stats analysts, new coaches, and new players. We don't want to repeat the same mistakes. We want to be ready to take the best of our players and to face everything our opponents throw at us.
(11/11/2017 – Legs feed the Wolf)
I am pretty sure nobody knows [that there are no excuses] better than Ken Hinkley. We did all the right moves on and off the field. All flags or no flag, that has some luck involved. However, Port to be a serious contender every year, that's on Hinkley. We are expecting nothing short of Top-6 and a semifinal match to happen every year.
(11/22/2017 – I have faith in Ken Hinkley)
2018
That's what Koch wants for Port: FU money. We don't have it yet.
But, in this, we are fighting because we must; consequences would be worse if we didn't.
(04/25/2018 – David Koch & the Restoration of Port Adelaide)
My first impression was, and I hope it was actually right, that this "humility" is only at the façade. I haven't bought it at face-value. Koch would agree that it is "humble club BS," in my opinion. This should be just a public "persona," while we get the club straight. The risk is getting stuck into the character, but that only happens if one believes in his own lie.
(05/18/2018 – Port Adelaide vs Adelaide)
I haven't watched the second half, but I am officially on the "lost faith in Ken Hinkley" bandwagon.
We choked. We threw the whole season away, when we should be at our strongest. We won't make Finals. It is inexcusable. There should be people being held accountable for this: directors, coaches, and leadership players.
(08/11/2018 – Round 21 vs West Coast)
It is obvious that our problem relies on the top, but I can't identify precisely who is in the wrong place, what the right place would be (including out of the club), and who should replace those who would need to be replaced.
Having said that, my first suspect would be Chris Davies. I would begin taking a look at his responsibilities as head of football and what he has done, and then going down from there.
(08/11/2018 – The leadership of the Port Adelaide FC)
[If “Hinkley reports to the head of football - Chris Davies”, t]hen, this thread was long overdue...
(08/12/2018 – I’ve lost my faith in Chris Davies)
At some point, we will be forced to simply thank Koch for all his good work and give him "good bye." Doesn't it seem he has reached his plateau?
(08/19/2018 – 2018 - What went wrong)
… Eternal Hinkley endures; and Port people has, indeed, abandoned all hope…
(08/20/2018 – Round 23 - Power v Bombers (2018 Farewell Round))
But even if one agrees with the plan, we have failed to execute it. This is on the coaches. They at least failed on their assumption that our players were able to put the plan in practice.
What bothers me, really, is that no one has come forward and apologized… From the president to the leadership group, they should all be taking responsibility for this: "There is no excuse. This shouldn't have happened. We are better than this. We are embarrassed by and sorry for the way the season ended."
… Are we brave enough to do this?
(08/22/2018 – The Media….Nods Head)
Koch is a proud man and, as a public person, he cares a lot about his image. I cannot imagine him being friendly towards Hinkley after what we did this season. The heat is on, and the temperature will just get hotter...
Hinkley is going nowhere, but he won't be comfortable at all.
(08/25/2018 – 2018 Season in Review)
No. If Ken was a superhero at 11-4, then he was making a outstanding job. Koch, probably unintentionally, threw our whole squad under the bus:
"With the material he has to work, being 11-4 was unbelievable. Ken was a superhero!"
(08/27/2018 – The Media….Nods Head)
I think that sooner rather than later it will be time to thank Koch, Thomas, and Hinkley for all they have done for our club, but tell them it is time to move on away from them. The two seasons I have followed the club have made me suspect they might have reached a ceiling.
(12/02/2018 – China History in the Making)
2019
Team finishes the last 7 games with a 1-6 record. it drops from top-4 contention to missing Finals. Members want blood, as they should!
Club should have sold this event as: "2018 Convention and Season Review — Why Have Our Plan Failed." It would have generated more interest…
… Club may be not selling the event like this, but if it is not going to happen like this, why bother?
(01/24/2019 – 2019 Members Convention)
My faith in Hinkley is limited. I think we are moving into the right direction, but I am not sure we are capable of making the journey successfully. We are thinking right, but failing in the execution.
Luck obviously plays a big part on it. Still, as Machiavelli pointed out, the better you are, the less luck you need. I am afraid Port may currently lack the virtù that constantly has propelled the club into greatness.
(03/18/2019 – I have faith in Ken Hinkley)
I wouldn't mind Koch as a figurative "head-of-state" for the club.
I wouldn't mind Thomas as CEO of our community programs.
I wouldn't mind Hinkley as Chief-of-Football-Operations.
But I think only KT could be able to change his role effectively right now. Besides, our Board is absolutely unable to see the issues, let alone to provide and promote solutions for those.
We know the trainwreck is going to happen, but the only thing we can do as passengers is fasten our seatbelts, duck on our legs, hold hands, and pray.
(04/13/2019 – David Koch - The Chairman of the Board)
"The leadership of the Port Adelaide FC" or the lack thereof, to be more precise.
President, CEO, head coach, captains... Not one single leader among them! At least, not of the kind we need now.
... We could have a list of all these "I have lost faith in..." threads. We may be missing some people...
