Alrighty guys, this is your one stop shop for all things Olympics, i know we've got the random chat thread but I think this deserves it's own thread. I'm bored and with these lockdowns across the country currently going on, the Olympics couldn't have come at a better time to help cheer us up.
I'm going to try post a preview/review of each days events, an updated medal tally and just anything i can bothered to do that i think is worth it.
If you've been living under a rock, the games this year are in Tokyo.
Tokyo is a fantastic city, known for it's bustling city and large skyline.
Tokyo and Japan for that matter is home to some great food, who doesn't love sushi? So f'ing good man.
Japan is also the home of anime, a polarizing topic of debate, anime is basically adult cartoons that for some reason, every degenerate from the western world loves . I don't like it, never really watched it but i understand the culture and i like to take the piss out of it and i don't mind some hentai from time to time (don't search that up Pickitt) .You are welcome to speak like Gysberts2Bate and I have in the Other games threads and add -kun, -senpai, w's instead of r's, flushed faces, and whatever genuinely weird shit. In fact, it's not only welcomed but it is encouraged.
In these weird and terrifying COVID times, the Olympics will be a bit different this time around. Only a few people in the stands, very strict testing and quarantine conditions. It is probably even fair to place an * on the winners given how tough the preparation has been and the drama around it.
Australia is sending it's biggest ever team, with record numbers of women and aboriginal/torres strait islander people participating. That's a great achievement!
The opening ceremony is Friday night, with Paddy Mills and Cate Campbell our flag bearers for the ceremonies.
However, the team sports events have already started to allow athletes some rest in between games of course.
The Aussies are off to a flyer, with our softball team losing to a 'mercy rule' against Japan and with one of our equestrian dudes suspended for using cocaine, hopefully that didn't make you as mad as Toump Ass was.
The Matilda's are playing at 9:30 tonight against New Zealand.
All coverage is live and free on 7 and 7 plus, hopefully they run it all well.
Japan is only an hour behind us on the east coast, so no midnight sessions thank god.
Here is a link to the olympics site with all events, that's where i'll get my stuff from and plop it here for convenience. https://olympics.com/tokyo-2020/en/sports/
Hope you enjoy!
Go Aussies or whatever country u r from!
Much love, Frosty <3
