Oh they know. Already making excuses:

"How many rule changes can the AFL squeeze in between now and thrn to deny us a chance to pick him up?"

"I doubt we are going to get him as North Melbourne are going to say "pick us and we will give you a $500,000 a year contract for 3 years straight away" and there is no way the Swans are going to be able to match that sort of money."

"I can see North offering him a 5 year contract straight off the bat and once he's beyond the mandated two years it'll blow us out of the water. Let's hope common sense prevails, he respects his career and chooses us."

hmmm, yup and their point being? "oh I wish we didn't pay so much for buddy, tippet, and have to pay Hanners, and the blonde bloke more when NMFC showed the money to them , so we could be a chance of recruiting other talented players." Indeed the kettle IS black fellas!!!!

Lets hope that along with the major youth injection rebuild we're into now is enough of a lure. It would have to be pretty exciting for any FS prospect you'd think.

A lot is made of JB's connection to the Swans etc. I reckon that is all the more reason for him to come to NMFC. 1/ Want to get away from dad's shadow, 2/ don't want to create a conflict of interest, 3/ want to prove made it on own talent and determination 4/ don't want to put dad in a tough spot.

I started work in a bank's trading room as a graduate, 1 other started same time, his dad was on the board of directors at another bank. Makes a lot of sense for junior to make it on his own, out of dad's shadow.

The shouldn't even be eligible for him.

Will the same thing happen with Joel Crocker?

Problem is Blakey jnr is a fully fledged Sydney sider. Most kids want to stay at home if they can. It's going to be hard to prise hom away.

Anything brewing beyond next year?

Mitch Larkin is a year or two older than my boy so he'd be making his way through the U16 system now. I know he's a good all round sporty kid, plays a decent level rep basketball as well as footy, is at a strong footy school, but don't know whether he's in the elite pathways.

I hear you but Joel Crocker only qualifies under the father/son rule at NMFC, while Blakey can choose from NMFC, Lions, and Swans! Good point, but nevertheless not quite the same.

Tom is in the 2021 draft. Played rep for NSW at Under 12 level back in 2015.

Should learn a bit more about him at the u15 SSA Championships next year.

Haven't seen him play but my son's mates who played with him in the swans academy reckon his name is a "BIG" help to him. Different player to horse, supposed to be very quick, but the kids reckon he's not that good. Kids all develop and improve at different rates. Lets see how he goes in a couple of years.

No I meant with his dad being a coach. John is the director of coaching at Sydney while Daz is the director of coaching at North.

Don stepped aside from being head of footy to avoid conflict of interest for son Luke. Daresay Crock would do similar when the time comes. As for Blakey, given he has other choices might be easier for him simply to play elsewhere from where his Dad is employed.
