This is completely from memory so could be way off but wasn't Stuart Cochrane was drafted as a 16 year old as compensation for losing the mighty Paul Geister to Port in a heist that led to them plotting revenge one day by grabbing JHF?
So obviously he must have been a gun youngster who carved out a solid career. Maybe Dougie will peak early too?
PS I am aware that the phrase "mighty Paul Geister" has never been used before nor is likely to be used again.

Close.

Cochrane was the Peter Mann compo.

* played Freo like a fiddle then, offloaded a bunch of Shitmen to get Matthew Lloyd.

Correct theory on Paul Geister though. Won the spiritual B&F in 1995 and 1996, declared "my work here is done" after almost single handedly getting us the flag and in a final act of self sacrifice traded himself to Port to give us the 17yo 195cm Kingsley brothers.

Is in the conversation with Aylett, Gardiner, Joseph et al in terms of club importance.

Well during our worst years, we managed to get in logue, corr, ccj, stephenson, stephen, fisher...

If we can get these during the worst 3 years, then things are pretty good.
I'll give you Corr and Logue.

Not sure the others were feathers in our recruiting cap.

Let it go KC.

Nick Blakey wouldn't even remember his dad at North, was seven when his dad started working at the Swans and was 12 when they won a flag.
You could the same for Jonathan Brown or the Ashcrofts who are both quite happy to move states to keep the legacies alive.

So sorry ferbs, but I won't let it go. If Blakey had been a 2x flag Magpie, Nick would be playing for Collingwood.

I would've thought 2 premierships would've convinced the Blakeys too though.

I see this as John's failing not Neck's.

There are players who identify the club as theirs and players who don't.

Boomer is the gold standard in this, not just because Cooper was taken by us. But when he stopped playing where did he go? To his old man's club, where his Brother was playing simply because it was their club.

Thankfully it appears that John and Neck are outliers.

100% correct KC.

I'm fairly certain Lucas is eligible this year and just playing local football.

There's a 2 year age gap between the two.
If Lucan is playing local level footy, can we assume Aiden is the more talented of the two?

100% this, there is no way Eddie would have let this happen but because we're a "small" club and getting handouts from HQ we can't be seen to poke the bear so we sat back and meekly let the Swans and the AFL walk all over us. Don't ever let this go KC it's fundamentally wrong and not what the interstate academies were set up for.

We’d have to be the club with most f/s players in the league who didn’t reach the 100 game threshold
Young Cochrane is also meant to be a chance to go Pick 1 in a year or two
