Rumour Future of the club (Bevo, board, assistant coaches, football department)

So within the space of 12 hours we've gone from McQualter is off to Gold Coast to McQualter won't be leaving Victoria.

Clearly very few know whats actually going on. Can we not jump at shadows and just be patient? There's clearly things going on behind the scenes, just because nothing has been announced doesn't mean the club is sitting on its hands and that we're doomed.

I agree with you but what happened last year and supporters are concerned of a repeat.

Im happy to just relax and see what happens, but also im worried because the people in charge of fixing it are the ones who can be blamed for the last two years

Good call.
Not being on the inside it is not possible to know what is being discussed, who it is being discussed with and what issues those it is being discussed with have raised and the club is working to resolve.
I have been as guilty as anyone in criticising the club but I think it is time for calm and trusting those in charge to do their job. Go Dogs

Nothing has actually happened thus far, and we get that they may be working behind the scenes? But without any communication to the members and supporters how would we know? If they’re doing something behind the scenes, at least tell us this. The wall of silence we get at the Whitten oval is Kremlin like in its secrecy. It’s like they are a decade or more behind on this stuff. We are a publicly owned club, we give our hard earned. We need to publicly acknowledge the finish of the season was a disaster. Sacking Rohan Smith before the end was incompetent, even though it was probably time at the end of season. The Hawthorn and especially WCE’s games were bizarrely coached and both press conferences were next level insulting. Where is the weekly talk from Ameet, Grant, KWW, Luke Darcy and Bevo on what we are trying to achieve? We only need one of them per week to speak to the fans, that’s only one a month if they are too precious to speak to the plebs like their supporters. They push out poor old Superman, err sorry Bont. We get nothing, so the rumours and innuendos and exasperated hope fill the very very empty vacuum that is the Western Bulldogs communications to its members.

I understand that and am equally concerned until proven otherwise. I just don't agree with posting rumours and speculation as facts, nor do I think it's wise to jump ahead to conclusions.

Those in charge are the reason we can’t relax.

Rumours and speculation are literally the only fun we get at the moment.

Why do we expect Luke Darcy as board member to be fronting the media?

His probably 1 of about 6. I don’t know any club where board members go out of their way to talk about the club to the media other than Kevin Sheedy and I’m glad we don’t have that.

Chris Grant is the one I expect more from.
Because he is the Football expert on the board. Jimmy Bartel is the Giants Football expert on their board and he often communicates about what the giants are doing/thinking. So does Leigh Mathews. Like Bartel and Mathews they also happen to be in the media as their job. I have often said we need up to three football experts on the board. Mitch or Steve Wallis, Rodney Eade, Chris Judd, the list would be endless. As for Sheedy he has no idea about how a board works. Leigh Mathews tried to tell him on air a couple of years ago. To be on the board is to not push your personal agenda publicly. We don’t need or want that from Luke Darcy, what we need and want from the board is where the club and coaching didn’t meet last year’s expectations and what this year’s expectations will be. Luke is the obvious front man on the board for his football and media roles. But Luke alone on the board as the football expert is too hard especially since he is mates with Football manager and head coach.

Seems strange to know how people will respond if you're unaware of the names.
Sorry for the delay on this

It's more of the

Don't expect someone of Choco level to walk into the club

They’re busy discussing MKR, The Block & The Voice (not the referendum one).

Kylie might chime in with some information about the new Marvel movie.

Meanwhile Bevo regales them with his latest reading on the teachings of some obscure philosopher. Or reads from Thomas the Tank some key learnings he’s picked up that might provide his theme for next season (although I suggest The Little Engine That Could might be more relevant).

I’m not gonna comment on what the make up of the board should look like - I have no idea.

But I really don’t think the board or anyone at the club should be setting out performance expectations externally (if that’s what your talking about?). Puts too much pressure on the group and I don’t see any positive value even if you achieve your targets. People only care if you don’t achieve your targets.

It would be good to have more visibility on the assistant coaching front and some dates as to when announcements would be made. The uncertainty is frustrating.

You don’t have to be specific. And you can communicate afterwards like this year, that what we got was unacceptable.
Saying that it didn’t hurt Richmond when Brendan Gale said we want 3 flags. Maybe he should have said 4?

Didn’t they pen a letter and say the results weren’t what they expected?

If they went really hard then Bevo’s position would be untenable. In the boards mind they still think his the right guy.

I’m pretty pessimistic about next season (as it stands, bottom 6 seems realistic), but I’m sure many would have felt the same about Richmond after 2016. Their coaching looked stale and list build looking like a failure, then suddenly win 3 of the next 4 flags

The Richmond board was challenged that year by a group under the banner (Focus on Footy I think)

Although the challenge did not go ahead as an agreement was reached this group that challenged were instrumental in some of the changes that took place and I think one of those was Neil Balme coming back to the Tiggers or having a bigger say.

Instrumental in some of the changes? Say that again?

The group that challenged was a basket case. They were laughed off as they should have been. Pretty sure their mission statement was written in crayon.
