Yeah it’s interesting, I’d assume this was already known about and accounted for - otherwise it would be pretty poor from the AFL to introduce this after most clubs have mostly finished with their coaching panels.

If not though it frees up a significant amount of space for clubs like us with highly paid coaches, I’d love one extra development coach focused on the forwards - that would almost be the perfect off season IMO.

May just be a coincidence, but it seems that with the senior guys there's been a focus on defensive nous, and with the development coaches a common thread of resilience/leadership. I like it.

How Naughton’s ball-drop and general kick at goal preparation has not been improved is an indictment on the club. He nearly always misses to the left and you can pick a miss before his boot strikes the ball.
Absolutely always misses left 30 metres out left side of ground.

Would love to see his left goal post stats too, it’s really not that much that has to change for him - his kicking technique/ball drop will always hold him back from being a great kick and will always have the odd shank off the side of the boot. I also don’t think he’ll ever be able to regularly kick them from long range due to his technique - but even if we can just improve those ones that slide left and miss by a couple of meters, of which he has 1-2 every single week. Then he’ll be more than good enough IMO

Alex Johnson has also been appointed as a Development Coach.

I really like that we're getting a variety of outside voices to the club. As far as I'm aware, there doesn't seem to be any obvious links from the new appointments to Bevo, Grant etc. Ameet & Lade may have had a hand with the Geary acquisition.

I like that we're getting guys from inside a system that they are well accustomed to.

The last tranche of assistants all fell like we outsmarted ourselves with left field outside of the established systems types.

I dont know if this was a consequence of the clubs usual penny pinching. Or they came about due to Beveridge wanting to surround himself with people that he knew and trusted regardless of what system they came from. I suspect it's equal portions of both.

Either way, I think the coaching revamp that we've seen roll out in recent weeks has us in a stronger position going into the coming season. However due to my keyboard warrior coaching status where its always heads I win, tails the club loses. I retain the right to take an enormous dump on the club for getting the revamp completely wrong and blaming the new coaches should the season turn to shit.

Would love 2 bob for everytime the word “obviously” is used by players/ex-players/coaches.. Actually anyone associated with football..
Is it something they’re taught during their “dealing with media class”?

The Western Bulldogs’ AFL Football Department has been further bolstered through the recruitment of two roles in the key areas of high-performance and medical this week.

Daniel Duvnjak-Zaknich has been appointed as Head of Physical Performance, while Dr Anthony Hispley joins as the Bulldogs’ Chief Medical Officer.

Duvnjak-Zaknich arrives at the Kennel with 14 years of experience in elite sport, spending nine seasons at the Fremantle Dockers as Head of Strength and Conditioning before moving to the GWS Giants as Senior Physical Performance Coach.

Prior to his stints in the AFL system, Duvnjak-Zaknich was a Head Lecturer at Exercise Research Australia.

Dr Hipsley is no stranger to the AFL competition either, having recently worked as the Melbourne-based match-day doctor for both the Brisbane Lions and Fremantle Dockers.
