Rumour Future of the club (Bevo, board, assistant coaches, football department)

Nearly all of the regular posters have no doubt Bevo will be sacked or is convinced to do a presser saying he cannot get anymore out of the group as is resigning even though it is BS. The question is if Bevo is digging in when to the board move in making it public. Bevo can dig in as much he likes but he cannot stop his sacking. The straw that broke the camel's back was the lost to WCE. Does it mean if there is no financial settlement at the time of the announcement that he gets the full payout or that can be sorted later. The longer this goes on the more fractured the club becomes.

If there's no media stories mid week next week about bevo then that could mean he's safe? Media drums are normally correct.

Cleveland probably unintentionally just got someone sacked haha. We know how pissed Bevo and the club were a couple of years ago about leaks, and were desperate to find them.
I did consider that Bevo is playing 4D chess and all this talk is a ploy to weed out the mole/s hahaha

Does youse guys not think it a little odd with all of the rumours floating about that not a single journalist (that Im aware of) is running with the story?

Given the competitive nature of the industry. Im struggling to understand how a team that is still a live chance of playing finals and beyond (both long-shots given current form) is on the cusp of sacking its coach. Isn't the biggest story in the game right now.

Sure, most of the rumours seem to be generated from this very board. But that hasn't ever precluded media types running with stories from here before.

It's hard to believe that if the rumours of a rejected payout that are floating about enough to catch the attention of posters here and they're willing to post them. Then it's also hard to believe that they haven't moved beyond those circles and into the inbox of a journalist.

I think I'll stroke out before any announcement is made.
Yeah I've been thinking along those lines too. I'm not saying the inside word is wrong at all. Just that something's not quite connecting ... yet.

I don't buy that journos will want to check their facts before going to print. We're talking about an AFL media race to the bottom, not Masters and McKenzie publishing revelations about Ben Roberts-Smith. When has not being apprised of all the facts been an impediment to the AFL media pack?

I did see a report this morning where Cornes was quoted as saying (my emphasis):
“If the culture, if the relationship between players and the coach - which is starting to come out publicly - is an issue, Bob Murphy is the perfect person to solve that."

Now that might merely be Cornes reading BF (Hi Kane! :raisinghand:) and throwing out a line to see if he'll get a bite. But I was waiting to see if anyone here would comment on it. I don't think anyone did.

I still think there's some big news that'll be made public in the coming days. Not quite sure when and what it will consist of but there's been ever increasing amounts of smoke ...

It doesn't seem like the way things usually play out. If it is as the ITKs have written on this forum, then BF essentially breaks the story and the media will be a very long way behind. That would be odd given it's usually the other way round. Not impossible but rare bordering on unprecedented.

Let's say, for arguments sake, that the ITKs are right (I've assumed that Fronk's info is good as it it would be odd to come on here after a long absence and declare what was declared - it is an assumption though - and a premise on which other conclusions are reached - much like Kane Cornes (Hi Kane!🙋‍♂️) -but I've assumed this premise isn't BS unlike Kane's premises which usually are (Hi Kane!🙋‍♂️) ... 🤔 now, where was I.

Ah yes, arguments sake, ITKs right...players and coaches have lunch together (including Bevo) but Bevo would have to know that Bont had been to the president and that the playing group think it would be better if he was no longer coach, Bevo might even think that himself or have been persuaded to that view by Bont and others. And their comfortable enough with it. Does it end this Saturday or at a finals exit. Perhaps Bevo and players already know and agree on that. This would be an extraordinary situation if it's been kept civil.

It also makes me wonder whether, despite agreeing to part ways, the coach and players are aligned on a separate but possibly related significant issue that's playing out behind the scenes. This might be the part that isn't connecting yet.

Could you be a bit more scrutable there NW?

Or would you have to shoot me?

Hasn't Brad Johnson said bevo will be here next year and that the coaches will turn over?

What's the group text thing - I must have missed this .... DM if can.

It's a bit like the comedy skit where 4 'crims' are meeting, but turns out all 4 are law enforcement for different branches, and there are no crims!

Bains, Beveridge, Grant, Bont, KWW and Spangher are all in a meeting, and all furiously punching into their phones - because they're all undercover ITK BF posters!

(Not disregarding any ITK posting btw, just having a bit of fun)

Not really. I'm fishing for what's missing as well - assuming that Fronk's post is correct. Bont goes to the President to inform her the coach has lost the players, coach and players have a seemingly amicable lunch together the next day while Bevo is offered a severance package, the media isn't all over it and no club announcement has been made.

Either

  1. Fronk's info isn't any good (i.e. Bevo is safe and Bont didn't go to the president informing her that Bevo has lost the playing group) or
  2. it's the best kept secret ever or
  3. it is true but something else is going on in parallel that's preventing the club from making any announcement at this stage
  4. it isn't true but something else is going on
If it was just a matter of the club negotiating the terms of the severance, someone in the media would be on to it ... you'd think....which would make one of
1) Fronk's info isn't any good or
2) it's the best kept secret ever
True

If neither of those are true then it's something else

What I don't think I could get my head around is if it's true that Bont went to the president saying Bevo has lost the players, it's true that Bevo was offered a severance package which he rejected, and then, after all that, Bevo will stay on as coach but the assistants will change and Bevo and the players will all live happily ever after. That combination is not believable ..... is it?

Also, how does this play out at the Darcy dinner table on Sunday night.

How was work today son?

We didn't have a good day. We don't like our coach so Bont is going to the President tomorrow to tell her so we can get new one.

Tell him he's dreaming. Darling, I think I'll have my dinner in the office tonight. Looks delicious. What do you call this?

Just make it public and let the man coach the season out I’m not sure what the big deal is - would be a mature approach by everyone.

It’s not working out we’re going a different way next season, have some fun and see what you can get out of the players this week and possibly the next couple if things fall our way.

It would be weird but winning a couple of finals doesn’t change anything - just make it official already, better for everyone if he has a confirmed send off game
You keep things under wraps thought to allow for high performance to shine through. There's the very real possibility that all this talk and views from before last game impacted the game, which made it become a self-fulfilling prophecy of sorts. A distraction.

Not saying the overall movement isn't valid, but it becomes self-defeating to try and invesitage how we can ultimately win games and the premiership... by undermining our present ability to win games and the premiership.

Uhh … ok. We might be overthinking it here. And our musings aren’t going to change anything.

I’m happy to assume Fronk’s on the money and that there’s still a bit to play out … maybe the final details are being hammered out.

I’ll just wait for the announcement whatever and whenever that may be.

Do people on here support the club or BF?
In any organisation people are going to know inside information, either first hand or second. You are supposed to keep it quiet until the organisation announces such things, not go blabbering for your own personal gratification.
Yet here we are, people are thanking, and saying we must respect treachery, because we are members of a forum, and seem unable to wait a couple of days/weeks so things can be done properly.

What exactly about the conduct of the club over the last 12+ months makes you confident it will be done properly?

Sure, if anyone is actually employed by the dogs then that's pretty average. But these are all just fans with various sources, it's not their fault information gets to them
