Too close to Bevo. Last thing Bevo or any coach needs in the coaching panel is yes men or people that were part of his squad/playing group. He needs people to challenge him and with different ideas from outside our footy club.what could possibly be your reason for not wanting Bob back at our club
I’m not sure Bevo wants to be challenged, as such. That’s why he chooses co-coaches who are on the same page with his vision. If a person has new or different ideas they would reveal them at interview and he’d decide if this person will add anything to his overall plan.Too close to Bevo. Bob and the ABC. Sounds like a perfect matchMurphy just got a gig doing ABC radio in the mornings, so as mentioned before any role he would have with the dogs would be part time.
Team selection. Our last game, a big final against Hawthorn and he doesn’t play Rylee West and Riley Garcia, two lads built for finals, we were embarrassed in front of the football world.Where does the concept come from that Bevo is an autocrat surrounded by yes-men? There’s
West was coming off an injury wasn't he and Garcia hadn't been able to lock down a spot all year... yes, we were embarrassed but that was because every single player had a bad day and Hawthorn played out of their skin.Team selection. Only if you’re happy with that one year of glory.Bevos a jet. Took us from guts to glory in a year. Enough said
Only if you’re happy with that one year of glory.
He was more than a jet that year (and 2015 too). He was more of a demigod.
It has been a chequered 8 seasons since though. That’s why “enough said” doesn’t quite say enough.
“Chequered” doesn’t mean unrelentingly bad. It means a mix of good and bad. That’s what it has been.Unfair on 2021. Making a grand final regardless of the result is still a good result and benefits the club. It's also the reason he's still here.
Injuries aside, selection decisions which can be good or bad aren't proof one way or another of a coaching panel being full of "yes men". It can be equally true in the other direction anything the ability to make tough selection decisions is proof that there aren't yes men in the coaching camp, otherwise the decisions being made would be the easy ones, for exampleTeam selection. Completely agree with this. There has been good and bad from Bev. The good has been good enough that I am in the “keep Bevo” camp but I hope there has been “learnings” from the bad efforts. Bewildering selection decisions aside I am most disappointed with the wasted post premiership seasons. We are a small membership numbers club and imo the only way to increase membership and supporter numbers is to win flags. Changing our name, playing games in Ballarat and even a robodog jumper might give marginal fan base increases but nothing comes close to giving kids in primary school a run of success to be proud of and become rusted on fans. We had the opportunity post 2016 and Bev and the club missed it.“Chequered” doesn’t mean unrelentingly bad. It means a mix of good and bad. That’s what it has been.
I would go further and say success is the only thing that will genuinely sustainably grow our support base.Completely agree with this. There has been good and bad from Bev.
