See you on the 9th green at 9
I’d prefer we just sell games than try to do 20k into the RNA tbh.

You’re the guy that does the LNPs costings for their policies aren’t you
The original, original plan was the ALP funding it. The about face came later when we were expected to pay for itThe original plan had the Lions and cricket forking out many, many millions of dollars to help upgrade the RNA as our temporary home.
He said Labor’s plan to use QSAC as Brisbane’s Olympic and Paralympic Games’ athletics venue was dead.
Mr Crisafulli said the state would be “proud” of his 100-day plan to get the Games back on track, but was still refusing to say where athletics should be held.
“Within 100 days Queenslanders will see a plan that they are proud of, and in doing so, we can restore faith in that process,” he said.
“I spent a considerable amount of time talking to the Prime Minister about that, and we intend to speak directly to the Sports Minister, who is a Queenslander and I reckon we can get a good outcome.”
Mr Crisafulli has promised QSAC would not go ahead and no new stadiums would be built - indicating a return to Annastacia Palaszczuk’s Gabba rebuild.
I still think we are getting a GABBA rebuild
Reckon there's a chance that the Lions may sell a home game or two to other locations like Cairns during that period, but you'd have to think a Gabba rebuild would result in most home games being played on the Gold Coast while the new Gabba is being built. If it happens, I think there will be genuine discussions about upgrading the capacity at Carrara. We sold out 4 of our 9 home games at Carrara this year and I don't think it's unfair to suggest that the Lions would pull more than 25k to games on a regular basis. If you fill in the open section of the stadium then the capacity will jump to 32-35k and that's probably fairly suitable given the circumstances. Hopefully they begin discussions about a light rail extension from the nearby train station to the stadium (and all the way to Broadbeach from there) so it's easy for you guys to get there if this does eventuate. So does this mean we could play our home matches on the Gold Coast while it's being rebuilt?
Mate I'm happy for it to be called the Vladimir Putin Kim Jong Un Donald Trump Stadium if it gets built in Victoria Park and holds 70,000 screaming Brisbane Lions supporters. The Federal Government has already tipped in some money to the 2032 Olympics. For Vic Park option I would be surprised if they were to do it again on the relatively short notice required and being an election year. The Olympics are fast becoming a large thorn in AusPol (not that most wouldn't already know this).
I'm not sure the 6k seat upgrade on the GABBA would provide the 'lasting legacy'.
I wonder if there is any possibility VicPark option be co-funded via private capital. The China Contruction Bank Corp Stadium has an interesting ring to it...
That lovely bit of Chinese soft power would kick the Feds/QLD into gear surely?
We can't go back to this whole rebuilding the Gabba plan. It's almost as mental as the Nathan plan. It's a round peg in a square hole as it is, and even if the final product was amazing, the best case scenario is still an absolute mess for both cricket and our AFL team for the next decade.Article 4.16pm today

He said he had spoken with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese about the Olympics in a Sunday morning phone call.
“I spent a considerable amount of time talking to the Prime Minister about that and we intend to speak directly to the (federal) sports minister (Anika Wells), who is a Queenslander, and I reckon we can get a good outcome.”

I hope this is to do with my suggestion of changing the joint funding model with the Commonwealth Government.
I also included suggestions and figures on how to get a new stadium if the funding model is changed.
I got a reasonably good reply from Tim Mander who will be in the new cabinet, and still hold his Olympic portfolio.
He stated he would ensure my suggestions would be forwarded to the 100-day review panel.
I also sent figures to Anika Wells after Miles changed his mind earlier this year suggesting the QSAC $1.6 billion venue upgrade.
Her reply was that they already have an agreement and there is no indication that the then Premier Miles wants to change that.
I wouldn't be surprised if there are some private consortiums being lined up in the background.I'm not sure the 6k seat upgrade on the GABBA would provide the 'lasting legacy'.
I wonder if there is any possibility VicPark option be co-funded via private capital.
Not quite as bad perhaps, but not the best option for us either. I guess it comes down to whether Crisafulli wants to wear the negative press from Vic Park since he's backed himself into a corner with his promise of no new stadium. We can't go back to this whole rebuilding the Gabba plan. It's almost as mental as the Nathan plan. It's a round peg in a square hole as it is, and even if the final product was amazing, the best case scenario is still an absolute mess for both cricket and our AFL team for the next decade.
It is possible he might be thinking that way. Let's just hope that it is just one of his suggestions in the "terms of reference".We can't go back to this whole rebuilding the Gabba plan. It's almost as mental as the Nathan plan. It's a round peg in a square hole as it is, and even if the final product was amazing, the best case scenario is still an absolute mess for both cricket and our AFL team for the next decade.
Former premier Annastacia Palaszczuk on Saturday slammed her own party’s decision to hold the athletics at QSAC in Nathan.
“We can’t go backwards, QSAC is going backwards, this needs to be visionary, it needs to be bold, but it’s under the new norm,” she said.
Ms Palaszczuk said her original idea of rebuilding the Gabba stadium made perfect sense but had been lost in the conversation, and whoever came into power needed to lock it in to avoid becoming a laughing stock.
I have spoken to a couple of people fairly connected recently who are expecting Vic Park to happen. It sounded like the ALP would’ve ended up building Vic Park too.
Not going to go full Leemas on it as they were just bbq conversations but I’m hopeful the people are as in-the-know as I think they are.
on the condition that they commit to drop-in pitches .... and those idiots that curated the gabba pitch for the last few decades are not allowed anywhere near the joint once builtDemolish the GABBA
Build Vic Park
Ask the AFL to see if they'll chip in for the cost to own a % of the stadium (they own Marvel)
Eddie actually said the AFL should chip in, and honestly it's a good idea. They benefit just as much as everyone else from Brisbane having a new stadium and they should do whatever they can to facilitate it. And it's good PR for them in a state where they're trying to grow the game.Demolish the GABBA
Build Vic Park
Use the GABBA space to build a new 15k Entertainment Centre as getting in and out of Boondall is a nightmare
Sell the excess land not needed
Ask the AFL to see if they'll chip in for the cost to own a % of the stadium (they own Marvel)
