I admire your optimism. Remember these guys are politicians. They will find ways to invent red tape and draw out the process to 2026 and beyond. If it goes ahead at all.
Nah
Quirk got it done under the 60 days and Labor did not take long to set up the terms of reference.
As i previously said 100 days is too long. If the LNP said 200 days, the panel would just stretch it to 200 days just more money to the panel.
A lot of the preliminary work on options has been done. The new panel can access via the Quirk files.
They will also have access to venues work in progress that may not be able to be changed anyhow.
I doubt they look at the athletics villages unless they want more rooms (a possibility) at the Gold Coast venue to move athletics.
However, the athlete's village process is fairly well advanced as are other "minor venues" projects as you would expect after 3 years.
Crisafulli is moving athletics from QSAC, so he only has a few options.
Athletics could be at one of these two venues. The Gabba (so no T20) or Carrara (so, no T20). That would mean big disruptions to those using Carrara/Gabba. Build a new stadium. Move athletics interstate which would be crazy.

Four things need to be in the terms of reference in my opinion.
However, i am only confident he will include one that being number 4 "must include a T20 cricket venue":
(1) Return State/Commonwealth agreement to 50/50 split.
(2) Include a new stadium option along with no new stadium in the terms of reference. So, two choices for the LNP to decide on.
(3) Consider options for the Brisbane Arena build including another venue site, delaying or cancelling.
(4) Make allowances for T20 cricket which was excluded last time for some crazy unknown reason. T20 is certain to be added to the Olympics for 2032 and will need at least one large oval shaped venue to host T20. The Gabba the obvious one.

With the recent uptick in ALP doing well in the polls this week, I wonder how Crisafulli would handle trying to get a new stadium built if he's in minority government with the Katter Party.
An uptick for Labour now, won't be able to change all of the votes already cast.

Crisafulli just went back on his crime promise to resign if the "total numbers" did not decline.
Now he has changed that to "per capita" for him to resign.
Strange considering "per capita" numbers under Labor have actually fallen.

Anyhow if he can go back on his "resign" on crime numbers promise in the state, i suppose we can hope he will change his mind on a new stadium.

First time I've ever (intentionally) voted "informally" in any election. Feel a bit dirty about it to be honest; the freedom we have here in this country to have our vote counted in open and fair elections is not something I take for granted.

However I've been so disappointed in the quality of political discourse during my 2.5 years living in Queensland, and particularly this year, I really feel like I had no alternative today.

Hopefully a few others had the same idea as me today and this becomes a bit of a "thing" on social media etc. It's got to the stage where I really don't think there's any other way to get our point across... "Contacting our local member" or whatever seems to have made jack all difference to the debate 🤷

By the way I did number all the other boxes 2-5 after this... Would be funny if they counted them 😂

I think it could actually be counted if you numbered 2-5.

It would have to get run past the booth oic but since your numbering (with 1 through 5) shows the voter's clear intent order wise it probably would count so you may have failed your attempt at informal and should decide your penance on the basis of your personal perception of the value of intent over outcome

So, a donkey and an informal vote
I bet the LNP scrutineers will try and say your vote should count. Clearly you prefer LNP over the others.
However, the Labor one will say it is clearly an informal vote.

How interesting!

Anyway it looks like my vote, counted or not, will be largely irrelevant... My seat of South Brisbane looks like it's changing from Green to Labor which is a bit of a surprise.

Even if the LNP manage to cobble together a govt it’s probably not good news at this point for a new stadium

Nothing much has changed though has it? Janetzki on ABC is still saying do the 100 day review while not wanting QSAC or a new stadium.

they didn't want Gabba either though, so new new stadium, no qsac and no Gabba
Yep, that's been the whole thing for the whole campaign and why no one has touched the Games this election. Just got to wait and see what happens when they actually form government.

I still think we are getting a GABBA rebuild
So does this mean we could play our home matches on the Gold Coast while it's being rebuilt?

Still prefer the Vic Park stadium proposal but I don't have $2B floating around with me to fund that idea

I believe you mean $2b.

$2m might buy you a block of land inside the Westfield ring.

That's what I meant to say, my bad.

My career in finance is in shambles right now.

You’re the guy that does the LNPs costings for their policies aren’t you

Surely Victoria Park needs to happen. What is the cost comparison of knocking down/rebuilding Gabba vs Victoria Park. I reckon there is more chance of Brisbane pulling out of hosting 2032 altogether, at this point. Do it properly, or don’t do it at all.

If they go with the Gabba, surely it'd be unlikely that they'd stick with the original timeline. Can't see them being ready to tear it down by the end of next year.

To memory, that timeline had it under construction from 2025-2029, opening in 2030. If this 100 day review is done by early next year and the way forward is locked in, they could still feasibly do some sort of RNA upgrade in two years, knock the Gabba down at the end of 2026, and have it ready for 2031.

RNA will be even more of a nightmare now than what it was earlier though. 60k+ members now trying to fit into a 20k stadium won't be easy.
