North people were.

Some North posters may have been. My understanding is the club always thought it a long shot. Anyway, that was last year.

We will know very soon on Gaff.

I'm talking about people who work within the club. They had Martin lined up, this year they thought they had Gaff, but now they have recognised that he has gone cold on them.

North are just not a destination club and every time they look like moving near the top of the ladder they move back down it. You can see why players who crave success avoid North.

People I know within the club haven't said anything about Gaff going cold.

I thought his sulking yesterday was pretty average. Its not like he did his hamstring in the prelim.

Everyone goes on about what a great bloke he is (and that may be true), but the true test of character is how you act during adversity and he should have put his personal situation to one side and been happy for the club. It doesnt mean you can't be emotional, but just standing there with a pissed off look all day ...

Clearly not in a good place.

If he is on his way then fair enough - it’s been 2 months to get his head around what happened, so obviously he’s still not coping and probably needs a good break from everything.

If he does go as expected, I reckon he’ll look back on this and feel a bit of regret - should have been bittersweet (ala NicNat), not pure torture.

Reckon he would have signed a new contract if he was staying with the notion of winning the ultimate success with the eagles, they looked a serious contender for the last few months.

I think Scott Lycett's imminent departure turns it on it's head, a couple more dollars available will see Gaff on really good money (as opposed to great), he is settled and supported well by the club where he might just feel like leaving for the dollars won't compensate for the potential success and mateship he has currently. I think the eagles will get the job done.

He's definitely gone. Yesterday's result gives him an excuse to run back home and take the money. Eagles should be happy to be rid of him. It was a pathetic display. ME, ME, ME! He couldn't crack a simple smile for his teammates, really? Look at nicnat, bob murphy, they may have been upset at their own situation but they never let it show. His display yesterday was that of a petulant, entitled brat and wc should be glad to be rid of him.

Surprised at Gaff yesterday. You could at least pretend to be happy for your mates. Especially with hundreds of cameras around. He goes now Imo. He didn't cost them a flag so He should be looking forward to the future now and winning one with north

His selfish bullshit showed up yesterday.

Couldn’t be happy for his “team mates” sulked and had the “what about me” face on all day.

I’m pretty sure the good bloke narrative peddled by everyone is starting to wear off.

He belted a bloke and smashed his jaw off his face and when rubbed out went all woe is me when his “friends” just achieved the ultimate.

Bloke strikes me as bit of a campaigner to be honest.

If missing out on players has some correlation between our ladder position, then I hope we miss on some more, did ok going from bottom 4 to almost making the 8.

Lot of salt usually reserved for teams consecutively in the top 4, don't know why posters cant just admit they're shitty North are forcing them to pay close to market rate.

Not sure about him sulking, I think that’s just his face tbh

His call, if he wants success he won’t leave, if it’s money he’s gone

i think he leaves to be close to his sick father that being the case hell go to north and money wont matter

Doubt he will want to rain on our parade, so expect any announcement to leave would be at least a week away.

Or conversely, the sooner he announces the better; get out of the way and let his team-mates enjoy it. Leave while the attention is elsewhere, as he doesn't seem the sort who wants the spotlight.
