He wasn't off - he wasn't given a chance to get off. Davey got him straight away. Jump was metaphoric btw. Like "jumping the gun" isn't actually jumping, it's moving before being told to. Likewise Davey tackled before he was allowed to. Although with the taller players Davey can sorta leap to get a better hold.

Stanton was on his own and picked out a tiger player who had no one within 20 metres of him, yet you turn that into he gave a forward a chance, please, watch the replay and hang your opinion up next to Stantons boots, you are both useless....

You're right, I should have said "playing" instead of "doing". Reads much better that way.

I'm not very good at judging distances on TV but there was a leading essendon forward to the right - his right - of the Richmond player. If the ball got to him he would have taken it. The ball didn't get to him. "oh well". I prefer that than aimlessly kicking to packs.

I am seriously fed up and annoyed about all the crap Stanton cops and no wonder his confidence is shot, he cops it every game. He isn't the reason we lost tonight, it was our overall performance as a team, not one player.

100% agree with Phone about our forward 50 delivery. Blazing away to our talls isn't working, Richmond just rebounded too well. We needed to lower our eyes to a leading player. Even at times when we did do this tonight our disposal wasn't good enough.

Need the bye next week, a lot of tired players.

And it was. Stanton gave the ball away 60m out. Not many can kick it that far. It wasn't a goal at that stage. It was by the time Davey jumped on a guy - yes i meant jump as in move too fast - and gave away 50. So yeah shut the **** up.

Would be nice to read some serious discussion on here rather than bullshit talk between "supporters". A few poor performances by certain players tonight but gee i thought a few really stood up tonight too, Rapt in Heppell's game, NLM whist not a huge fan myself put his head over it several times when we needed it, Hille was back to something like form, Leeeeeeeroy is going to be a star and a real headache for all teams going forward, Cale i thought played well bar Jack getting a few cheapies. Anyone that expected better at the start season needs a reality check, We are having a great start to the year and whilst tonight is not the result we are after, We are certainly on the right path and with some key inclusions in the coming weeks expect to be further improved.

With the outs that we had, it was always going to be a tough task. Richmond needed a win and what better time to strike us at. Tough luck but on the flip-side, we now have the week off which suits us down to the ground.

Time for players to recover properly, partially get over some niggling injuries and come back fresh in 2 weeks time. We will absolutely dominate against the Demons coming off the break without a doubt, at the very least a four goal win is on the cards.

Leading may not have been the correct term, but by the time the camera had got to them they appear to had made some sort o a lead. Fletcher's kick to Ryder in the last needed to be out in front. We had this happen numerous times around the ground.

Outplayed tactically and horribly undermanned. A game like tonight would've been perfect for Watson and Hocking in the clinches, Winders on the wings and Dempsey off half back.

I think the 3 ruckmen is past it's used by date. Ryder should be the next sub with TomBell and Hille starting the game.

I'll vomit in my mouth if Reimers is named against the Demons in a fortnight.

Phone already told you, Stantons turnover gave them a chance at getting a score, Davey gave them a goal by giving them a 50m penalty. Both are at fault.

With the 3 outs back in, you would have easily accounted for us.
Whether that has an impact on having the 3 very talls is questionable. I like your approach, but having only 1 goal kicked between the 3 of them is not a good return. Ryder definitely had a bad day, but i'm sure he'll bounce back.

Can't play the three ruckmen, it's not working, simple as that. And I think we've got to stop calling it 3 ruckmen - it's Bellchambers rucking about 80% of the game, with Ryder and Hille playing key forward with the very occassional pinch hit.

I thought Ryder could be a permanent forward, but he requires decent delivery onto the end of a lead, and at the moment we're just bombing it in continuously, which does not suit him at all. His confidence is lower than Stanton's right now.

Hille played his 2nd best game for the year tonight (1st was round 1) but I still think he's more effective as a ruckman who runs forward, rather than playing as an actual forward. When he can clunk big grabs like he did tonight he's dangerous, but one it hits the ground he is a liability.

Simply put, can't play all three of them anymore, I'd be dropping Bellchambers or Ryder. Bellchambers has been in far superior form, but I just feel that if Ryder went back to rucking more he may get himself into the game more. Has no idea what his role in the side is at the moment Paddy.

Overall, it is disappointing to lose, but I'm not as disappointed as expected. Our forward line simply isn't functioning with the ruckmen down there, Crameri had an unusually quiet one, and I don't want anyone to say 'Monfries kicked 3 goals, he's valuable to our structure etc..' he is wasting space, plain and simple. Anyway, got distracted, forward line not functioning, the midfield we put our there tried their heart out but in reality is one of the worst midfields in the league (the one we put out there tonight, not overall) and I thought our backline was pretty damn good. We've looked tired, we've had players out, the bye has come at the right time.

I'd be prepared to give him that. But! I would give him 8+ out of 10 for 3 or more games this year.
