Could Neates be our super-sub? He might be able to male a real impact in that role.

IMO he's just too small. Against a best 22 i just dont think he'll be able to make an impact. Against a team half filled with kids he was alright but no standout and this will be his third season on the main list.

Yeah, but his second season was ruined by injury to be fair.

This is probably the sort of stuff Boomer Harvey heard early in his career; while I'm not suggesting Neates will get to that elite level I certainly believe that "If you are good enough, you are tall enough." People have the impression that Neates is a midget but his build is actually quite solid. I'm a firm believer that Neates is good enough for the next level; and given the way he played yesterday and his dominance on the preseason training track it seems as though opportunities to prove this can not be far away.

If they were a foot taller they wouldn't be playing for us that's for sure.

Kerr had 84 DT points in a half of footy.

One of the biggest Swift defenders you'll find, and I wasn't there so only going off the 6PR call, but it did seem like Swift had a few errors. Certainly got amongst it a lot (and maybe it is just another case of Tom Swift syndrome; that is, overemphasizing his mistakes because he's Tom Swift and he's an accepted whipping boy) but the commentary did focus on how he needed to clean up his disposal.

Mixed reviews as well from those who were there - any consensus at all on Swift's game, for any aspects?

Not his worst game but he did nothing to suggest he deserves a spot in the proper 22.

As for the whipping boy syndrome, people wouldn't highlight his mistakes so much if he didn't make so many mistakes. Simple as that. Watching him yesterday he just moves at a different pace to the rest of the side and regularly gets in the way of teammates.

He wasn't our worst yesterday, so I guess that's a step up.

If neates and hams were a foot taller we would have the best midfield in the game.

In that case, let's spark a revolution in training practices:

I thought Swift was probably better than Priddis on the measure of his game. Kicked a goal each and did similar things around packs both made a few mistakes. In the end Swift was more damaging.

Generally good signs from Masten, some excellent skills on display. By hand and foot.

At one stage the ball was on the ground, he jumped at it under pressure. Slid his had under it and in one motion punched it legally to a player running past. One of the numerous umpiring decisions that went against us.

i heard koby stevens kicked 2 goals?..i'm liking that.(not just a crasher+basher?)

Spent a long time forward, I wasn't that impressed with his contested work to be honest. Was poor below his knee's and generally ineffective by hand.

Was a solid game and an improvement on last week.

Pretty much spot on with Hams. Though I thought he was outshone by Neates' efforts in the second half.

Wilson and Brennan were forced to play tall, particularly in the second half when Schofield sat out. They rebounded well but really struggled in the air against Butcher, Westhoff and Stewart.

McInness was very impressive. Probably didn't show on the scoreboard but he was our one good leading target up forward.

(PS, yes I realise those questions weren't directed at me:D)
Thanks for the answer though!

UUUUmmmm.....Phil Matera. Ok he may not be Phil Matera just sticking up for us shorties...hhaaa

There was meant to be a full match replay 12 hours after the game:confused:. Whats going on AFL??

like to see it but how can there be a replay is, assuming, there were no cameras.

I am guessing that if cameras were there it would have been televised.

Radio has lost its magic, many observations on here are wide of the impression I gained from the commentary on 6PR

Apparently there were cameras there......

I saw two cameras at the ground, but I seriously doubt they were for a full match replay. WCE twitter says there will not be any match replay.
