Hahndorf has sausages. Bloody good sausages. And steins, bloody good steins to wash the sausages down.
I know and I want to go there it wasn’t a diss I was actually being genuine

Why not have it in Northern Territory?

Yes there would be less people and less money but f*** me playing a game of AFL on the Tiwi Islands would be absolute magic.

I realise I answered my question
I was thinking if they ever wanted to do it in Sydney they could do it at stadium Australia/ Sydney Showgrounds same precinct.

But I was a skeptic and SA did a good job

Wouldn’t worry about that we probably be playing the Suns or GWS at 12:30pm Saturday at Norwood
I’d say based on all reports my barker might get more games

The only thing that ever makes sense is
Make It Rain Money GIF
Yep, this round exists because SA tax payers write a massive cheque to each club.

You know what.

It was ****ing great.

Mount barker deck yesterday was like dropping splendour in the grass out the back of the hills. Mount barker loop bus with sheezels old man was elite.

Spent the night on the couch drinking piss and booing JHF.

Dirty arse yum cha feed up in Payneham this morning, prior to walking down the parade sinking cans and watching the first half of gws and hawks. My son loves the giants - didn’t have him this weekend but got him a scarf and a signature from Cadman.

Uber to AO to catch up with a bunch of st kilda supporting mates. Sat in the cheer squad with a million Jim beam cans then moved ends to try and razz a bit of fire for the last quarter. Walked 20 minutes post game listening to the radio and got an Uber home and now drinking piss in bed before another day off.

Give me gather round ever weekend. Greg champion would have ****ing loved it you plucky Victorian prickholes

Hoping we get an Adelaide oval game next year against a non SA club. Crowd numbers will eclipse that Telstra dome shit 😂.

Credit where it’s due, the AFL and SA Gov have done a fantastic job of this, with both parties wetting their pants with the excitement of announcing the extension (which I posted yesterday would happen quickly).

Was there talk of a game at the Barossa Valley next year? I’d be up for that. Hopefully it’d be us.

Highly possible. There are, in fact, one or two clubs keen to play us in the Barossa next year. The opportunity for a boutique experience has the corporate fundraising side of the clubs salivating.

Up here with a few ex workmates from Vic & have had a good time
We usually go to Gold Coast each year for a game & we reckon we might head back there next year for Gather Round & set up in one of the bars to watch the football
We had hoped they would move it around the states each year but can understand why they have decided to keep it here for a while
Big credit to the people of SA for the reception & effort they put in to welcome everyone

It will only be bigger.

Everyone that travelled over will come back + tell their mates what they missed out on.

The city has been pumping.
Having been at the casino tonight & speaking to 40 random drunk idiots I can confirm this is the case.

It’s a thing.

What a great weekend.

Because most of the VIC clubs are so hard done by with the fixture each year, hey?!

Take off your SA goggles for a minute.

Your solution to the AFL's already existing problem of having the ability to manipulate a fixture where clubs at the very least still have the same number of home/away games during the year is to just abandon all pretence of equality entirely and just flat out gift 2 of the clubs in an 18 team comp an extra home game on top of the 11 they already have every single year?

Fun fact: both Adelaide & Port have 12 games at AO this season and play once against each other at that venue meaning they maintain home ground advantage in the 11 remaining games. Richmond for example play at the MCG 14 times but play against other MCG tenants in 5 of these games meaning they maintain home ground advantage in only 9 of these games by my rudimentary late night count.
Using that same logic we have 8 games where we maintain home ground advantage. WCE & Freo both have 10 due to playing each other twice, Sydney & GWS all 11 due to having different home grounds, ditto Brisbane/GC.

Say what you will about the way the draw is structured travel-wise, but undeniably non-vic clubs are not at as much of a disadvantage as the chip on your shoulder suggests. We are here to compete in a competition that is already compromised to shit and this is yet another mechanism to weight the scales in that direction.
