My mail is that that the affected Diggers/Bulla player got eight matches and was quite lucky he didn't get more. Panel very upset that he didn't turn up on the first night and fined Diggers heaps. What will happen next - appeal, acceptance? who knows?

Your mail is partially correct in that the panel was upset that the player didnt show. The player was O/S so could not attend but the panel were apparently still not satisfied with this once he did attend. Was handled incredibly poorly by the tribunal if that is the case and the club was still fined. Talked to a couple involved from both clubs and they thought the behaviour of some on the panel was ordinary but they probably would say that.

What was the justification for fining the club? Was it because of the original offence, the fact he didn't attend the first hearing, or because the club didn't inform the tribunal that this was the case?

Looking at the results in the Macs on the weekend - Would seem the neither Riddell or Rupo deserve to play finals. Sides getting bowled out for less then 100????. But one of them will get a chance if Gisborne goes down to United!!
I reckon Romsey will flog Macedon - therefore they are safe.
First week of the finals then looks like
United vs. Rupo
Bacchus vs. Romsey

dont you mean the seconds and thirds?, unless they get their free pass to stay in macs next year:p

they still may stay up if the sugestion of reverting back to the 12 sides in each grade happens. with posssibly 2 new melton sides and one from kyneton looking at entering the league next season. also looking at 80 over matches for the top few grades and ditching the one dayers in favour of all two day matches. should make things interesting

Interesting yes, but kind of unfair to the teams that were relegated in the last few years. Coming to the gdca from another league and straight into macs is also a strange one, thought you would have to earn your spot.

Not really unfair....which club in B grade deserves to be in Macs based on performance prior to this year???

It makes perfect sense that if the league expands from 8 to 12 that any new clubs that demonstrate to the league that they are competent go straight into the 1st grade..

Eight teams
Plus
A club from Kyneton
Two from Melton
Promotion of B grade winner (Wallan)
Minus
Woodend getting relegated leaves a spot. My money is on the Woodsmen pulling some strings... to see themselves in the Macs for their 150th year.

One issue will be types of decks. One would assume Melton clubs are coming off Turf decks? Clearly not fair to have two types of decks in the first grade.

What ever happens i think the more the merrier, should be all hard wickets NO MATTER WHAT and i think that the GDCA should look at halving the 1 Dayers and getting more 2 day games in. You get enough 1 dayers in from the Crap whether that we get Post Xmas

As far as i'm aware, there are a couple of proposals that have been put forward. A 10 team comp and a 12 team comp.

10 team comp is a bit different than what we have now. It will split into two sections, Division 1 McIntyre 1st XI, Division 1 McIntyre 2nd XI (where there will be one team in each grade from the same club). So Bacchus, Gisborne, Macedon, Riddell, Romsey, Rupo, United, Woodend, B Finalist, B Finalist would all put 2 teams into this 2 division McIntyre Cup. Then there is another '<insert cricketers name here> Sheild' that will be played in Division 2,3,4,5,6,7,8. Teams like Ashfield, Lancefield will take part as well as the B grade Semi Finalists and teams like Bacchus with heaps of teams. Also the two Melton teams (Centrals and South PS) will come into this grade. Then you have the other divisions split between whoever. I think...

Now the 12 team comp is pretty much the same style as we have now. As far as i can gather, its Bacchus, Diggers, Gisborne, Macedon, Riddell, Romsey, Rupo, St Anthonys, Sunbury, United, Wallan and Woodend in McIntyre. Then you'll have the two Melton teams joining in B grade along with everyone else. Then there could be a top 6 finals system, or follow the same format as the top 4. I think the idea is for the top 4 grades will have 12 teams and the other grades will continue with 8.

I think...

Oh yeah, everyone vote for the change! :)

Oh yeah, I'm pretty sure both clubs play on Hard Wickets.

and just a side note,

I think Melton South's home ground is Mt Carberry which, unless i'm mistaken, is *****!ing tiny! Couldn't play McIntryre on it... Could be some BIG scores.

Centrals is Melton South Primary Rec Reserve (small) and their second ground is Melton Secondary School (small)

But still, everyone vote for the change! :)

Well what do ya know, after being written off by all the experts at the start of the season the Bulls are contesting another McIntyre Cup GF. as well as 2 other teams playing in GF"s and 5 sides making finals. Not dead and buried just yet

Fair effort by the marsh, unfortunately for them I am tipping two lost GF's in a row and the mighty SUCC to bring home there first McIntyre flag in 10 years. In saying that though the Marsh have the wood over United this year so it should be a close one. Who is playing in the B grade GF?

Both Games these 2 teams played have been decided in the last couple of Overs, Finals are funny things and The Marsh would hate to lose again (No Pressure Marsh;)).
United/Marsh GF it should be a belter:thumbsu:

Romsey v Hesket D grade at woodend should be great, romsey should have the advantage after winning there sunday, Wonder what "bat first" will do if he wins the toss?????

I'd imagine you would bat first and try to bat for a day and half, though the weather could play a very important role. But as Lancefield found out chasing any total on Gilbert Gordon is hard, it must be the slowest outfield in the league, and i doubt Woodend CC would bother cutting the grass, as its nothing to do with them.

Can I ask why this game is at Woodend?
