GDFL club Geelong West is set to become a co-tenant of the redeveloped West Oval.

The Cheetahs are planning to shift home games to the venue as of next season and will play on alternate weekends to GFL club Geelong West-St Peter's.
The move follows a City of Greater Geelong decision to reduce the size of the GDFL club's current home ground, Baker's Oval, by eight metres as part of an area beautification project.
Cheetahs stalwart Daryl Craven said the small Shannon Avenue ground would ultimately be used for junior matches only, however it is expected the senior club will continue to train at the venue.
``It is not as short as people think but because it is narrow it gives that impression,'' Craven said.
Brownbill Ward councillor Barbara Abley said the works had been carried out in close consultation with the relevant sporting clubs.
She said as part of the oval redevelopment, new perimeter fencing and coach/player shelters were being installed.
``Following this, high screen fencing will be erected to protect neighbouring properties from balls. Walking paths will also be developed,'' Cr Abley said. ``The improvement works are consistent with the Bakers Oval Master Plan and seek to cater for increased passive use.''
Cr Abley said a replanting program was scheduled to take place later in the year.
Council has already announced major redevelopment plans for West Oval, which will turn the space from just an oval to a regional sporting complex.
Cr Abley said West Oval would become the second largest sporting facility in Geelong, behind Skilled Stadium, for all codes of football.
Under the redevelopment, the entry gate will be demolished, making way for a second netball court.
The project will cost almost $250,000, with landscaping and demolition costs of $190,000 and $55,000 for the building of the netball court.
Cr Abley said there were also plans to develop cycling facilities at the oval, but that would most likely become a G21 project.

Geelong West-St Peter's Sports Club has been in negotiations for well over a year with Geelong West cricket and football clubs about relocating to the redeveloped ground.

....about time

Werribee Centrals could be a surprise packet this year. They had a good win over East Geelong today. They appear to have some quality young players with plenty of pace, something they have lacked in the past.

I think you'll find East won by 8 points. Very wet conditions and East had about 8 players out, including the coach.

Apologies. I missed most of the first term. I had Centrals winning after 1/4 time. East's coach did play. Injured in the second term. Looks to be carrying some excess baggage.

i was talking to a few at corio they were saying corio train in a basketball stadium theve got no grounds to use at all there finding hard to do any drills there longest kicks are only about 15 m there really gunna struggle with fitness and team structure early in the year and they had a few out not heaps maybe there been no talk about probably cause theres not much big going on down there how much did they lose buy no one at corio knows do any of you corio top 5 not likely:D

Sounds like the Corio players would fit in nicely at Punt Road. :p

Was speaking to one of the Bannockburn boys brothers yesterday and they seem to think that Tom Mullane-Grant is returning to the Tigers this year? Apparently caught up with one of the coaches across the weekend!
