Are you disputing my claim Geelong are in financial trouble cheffy? Most neutrals in this thread have agreed the signs don't look good but I don't see many Handbaggers seriously attempting to argue otherwise - yourself included.

I already explained how tanking doesn't pay. The tanking clubs Carlton and Melbourne, didn't get anywhere with their cynical methods. Whereas clubs like Hawthorn who now continually pick up good value picks in the draft, are able to have sustained periods of success.

Carlton have learnt from this model, which is why they are no longer looking for a messiah.

I don't remember the Hawks tanking and it wouldn't make sense. From memory they only had 1 season where they qualified for a priority pick.
I cannot remember much from when Carlton were suspected of tanking but I do vaguely remember a game at the end of the season where Carlton showed some strong signs of tanking, benching players, putting players out of position etc and particularly sending Fevola into defence?

Mitchell was a second rounder and the No.1 pick for Hodge was gotten from a trade. You have lots of opinions on this but you clearly haven't done any research.

Hodge and Mitchell were both gained through trading McPharlin and Croad to Fremantle for picks 1 (Hodge) mid teens pick (didn't work out) Pick 36 (Mitchell)
Hawks were also a shit team so regardless of getting a priority pick the Hawks would have ended up with 1 of either Franklin or Roughead.
There goes atleast 3/4 of the players you mentioned. Oh and we also lost Franklin to free agency.

Theres plenty of other great teams in the competition, I'm not blind to that. I also honestly miss Carlton been a good team. My family growing up Aunties, Auncles cousins etc on both sides of the family were all either Hawks or Carlton and the rivalry was great in the 80's,90s. Was fun watching games together and the banter. Hope they come good again with Bolton. A touch of Hawks class might be just what they need.
