3 recent flags but the Cats are nearly as broke as Brisbane. Why?

So when will the mighty Hawks be hosting home games at Box Hill City Oval, Waverly Park or Dingley? Seems kind of pointless to have all these grounds yet none of them are up to AFL standard. So basically Hawf have a similar setup to Norf, where they split their home games between MCG/Etihad and Tasmania. Norf = minnow therefore Hawf = minnow.

Hawthorn play more games at their homd ground (the MCG, the best ground in Australia) than the Cats do in their shithole

North are in a similar boat but they play at Docklands instead of the MCG

Hawthorn is an MCG club, North a Docklands club and Geelong, a shithole club

Simples

No team has there own stadium, its not Hawthorns fault that they have become too big for one state. This is the difference, Geelong is a small local business barely solvent which is bullied by Hawthorn who is equivalent to a national company.

The town off Geelong is full of plebs and peasants....you will never be viable, even Ford has shut up shop. :) :thumbsu:

Hawthorn owns Waverley Park and has a $60m facility in Dingley. Geelong don't even have an asset

You don't have anything in Dingley yet.
Our stadium brings in a minimum of

$750k per game which will increase to $1m+ after the redevelopment

We'll be able to buy the Hawks in a year or when they fork out $60m on a contimated tip not fit for humans.

But its not your stadium. Thats akin to Hawthorn claiming the MCG :drunk:

The sad thing is...you probably still wouldnt. The Hawthorn Football Club has close to $40m in net assets ($59m total assets less $20m in total liablities). How does the Geelong Cats compare.

I know. It sure as shit is a long, long, long way short of $40m...especially when you blow $3.3m in a season, complain to the hills about your admittedly minor contribution to the 'luxury tax' and call for a good old fashion tin rattle :)

Happy for you to address these points. What happens when Ford pisses off?

Tick, tock :)

Maximum value in gate receipts with minimal outlay. Sounds like pretty good outcome.

So what happens when the study finds Dingley to be uninhabitable. Wheres the next brothel?

As shown before the unemployment rate is 3.6% in Geelong. Basically full employment. 650 people are going to lose their jobs when Ford leaves in a population of 300k. Plus as you say the NDIS is setting up headquarters in Geelong.

Ford have also committed to sponsoring the Cats for another 5 years. Continuing the longest sponsorship deal in history.

I am concerned about the size of Geelongs fan base. My concern lies in its inability to financially support a football club in a national competition...
Has sustained us for longer than the hawfs have even been alive and hasn't even attempted any murders mergers of the club.

So can you clarify. Do the Geelong Cats own the stadium. Why did they blow $3.3m last year? Why are they initiating a tin rattle this year?

As for Ford I understand that you are likely a victim of the Geelong education 'black hole' but its the supplementary industries that suffer when Geelong piss off.

The NDIS is dandy but thats not going to help the SME's that rely on Ford contracts hey? Well not in the primary market anyway :)

Well you were involved in merger discussions during the 80s and 90s. Try Ian Ridley's 'Urge to Merge' book for more info.

The Cats were technically bankrupt in the mid 1980s, early 1990s (who can forget the council run ponzi scheme :) ) and the late 1990s. You also had the Whiskas shit, the Bendigo Bank bad debt and the $3.3m loss:)

In fact they have spent more year in debt than surplus since the early 1980s (dare I say since 1984 :) )

Fun Fact of the Day. In 1986/87 all VFL clubs save Hawthorn, Essendon and Carlton were technically bankrupt. Watch the old 'Formation of the West Coast Eagles' Fox Footy Headliners episode for further info :)

Seriously the Geelong fans in this thread are pathetic. Really illustrates the education gap that has befallen the shit hole

And through all your bullshit our fan base has kept us viable for longer than the Hawfs have even been around.
That's the sort of staying power you limp flogs showed you lacked by forcing your "club" to go cap in hand to the Dees when the going got too tough.
lol, and you call Geelong fans pathetic. :)

Well your survival was secured on the back of the West Coast (cough 1992, 1994) and Brisbane Bears VFL licence payments

Absolutely NOTHING to do with a viable fan base

All industries reliant on Ford have been given ample warning and should already be diversifying and taking steps to lessen the impact of Ford leaving. Employees would be doing the same. Geelong is easily commutable to Melbourne which also lessens the impact.

If you truly believe that Geelong the city and Geelong thefootball club will fall in a heap when Ford leaves then the money spent on your education was a massive waste.

Okay so we're only a foundation club thanks to West Coast and Brisbane. :drunk:

lol, you must be the most uneducated football 'follower' on here in the fact you've jumped on the Hawfs in the good times and automatically assume it's always been like this. :D

You're only 22 right?

Well the land is under contract. Which cannot be said for Geelong

How is Geelong's position at Kardina Park any different to Hawthorn's at the MCG?

Hence the September 2004 join date.

Geelong's viablity has been questioned (and they have been propped up) several times in their history. Another example was the early 1940s when they relied on the generosity of the remaining VFL clubs

The rumour that he's recently been sacked himself confirms this.

Exactly.
A 10 year old knowing who his fave players are is a long way from understanding the how's and why's in regards to his parents wanting to kill his club off.

Yeah this :drunk:

bombersfan4000 says hi...if only he could confirm the virtues or otherwise of his secondary education certificate

How is Geelong's relationship with Kardina Park any different to the Hawthorn stadium deal at the MCG?

Well for starters we dont share it. We train on it and because of this we don't have to fork out $60m on a tip to call home.
