aparently he cracked the shits cos he was in the leadership group or had anything to do with coaching.
Well now east arent gonna win the flag either are they it'll be and inverleigh V Bell POst Hill Grand final
it will be east v bph in the granny, inverleigh i doubt very much.

Bell Post Hill & Werribee still very much unknown quantities IMO.

write either side off at your peril.

If I was running the market now i'd have BPH favourites followed by East, then Werribee and Inverleigh.

BPH have the best forward line in the comp now with Jovanovic IMO.

Jova, Venner, Tarr & Grgic as talls will cause a lot of problems.

good luck 2 rick, east r a good club and have alot of good people so i wish him all the best

A good get for East. An able replacement for M O'leary across half back. If he goes through the midfield, you can be guaranteed he will show up the likes of Coy and Chambelin, who were considered their top liners.
Can see him and Skrobba clashing?

If I ever hear Drago come on here and preach to us that East Geelong spend no more than 70k, I will put my fist through my PC. That figure would nearly top 100k, fantastic for the club through a financier/supporter and sponsorship, but compared to Corio who claim to spend 35k, the comp is becoming more like the English Premier League by the year.
Any thoughts?

not at all, the pair are actually pretty good mates.

Ricky will be a handy asset as far as teaching kids like Jennings in the midfield, but he'll know Skrob is boss.

At Corio a lot of players would have still looked to Ricky as being the leader of the club (which may of led to his demise in the pre-season) whereas he moves to a fresh club where he is a new player with arguably the most commanding leader in the league as coach.

The players will treat Ricky just like another player (ableit a fantastic one).

I can see Rick having a very tidy season indeed.

Just letting you know the Round 1 'game of the round' for 94.7 the pulse will be the Bell Post Hill vs Winchelsea clash at Myers Reserve.

live from 1:30pm.

Jovanovic is the most highly overratted forward wont lead and his knees are knackered is soft for a bloke his size but the umpires do love him so will get alot of soft frees

Bourky23 I know you are a East Geelong man and that is good that you love your club I know this from reading your posts which are the better posts on this site to read:thumbsu: But Ricky O'toole saga i will have to agree with Dickens Cider on the salary of players situation East would have to be around that 85-100 grand mark. Do you think Ricky O'toole would be there for nothing, He is not there for the club he is there for himself deep down he is a Corio Boy and always will be but he will play 1 or 2 seasons with East than go. IS THAT AN EXAMPLE EAST GEELONG FC WANT TO SHOW TO THERE YOUNGER PLAYERS THAT IT IS OK TO BE A GLORY HUNTER! When most of you players have either been at East before Skroba or were there when he started and have done the hard work for the team. I know if i was a player that was in the senior on ball group for the last few years and i got put our of the side for one player i would be pissed off. But that is just my opinion

Haha gee, I didn't think I was that bias?

I'm not an East man, macromantic.

I just know how their club runs and I can tell you everybody knows Skrob is number 1 (I mean he wasn't even legally their coach 2 years ago and we all know who ran the show even though they weren't allowed to on match day). The playing group have total faith in his decisions (I mean after all it won them a flag)

Ricky has every right to chase coin if he wants, he's been one of the best local footballers Geelong has had over the last decade, I highly doubt anybody would have a problem with him arriving at East. Yes, it's very likely he'd be on significant coin but at the end of the day knowing Rick he is very motivated and highly competitive and the lure of a premiership before he retires still lingers. If it helps them in their quest to go back2back then I don't think the playing group could give a rats toss bag how much he is on.

I think people often overate the negative impact Ricky can have on a footy club (which i'm yet to see, only hear rumours of) and often forget that he is an absolute superstar of the competition.

as for Jovanovic, I haven't seen him play at all but surely somebody of VFL ilk can play catters?

BPH loved to stretch defenses last season and IMO a resting forward line of

Cavka - Grgic - Caleb Bacely
Venner - Jovanovic - Tarr

could cause a truck load of problems.

winch beat bph by 21 points after trailing by more than 8 goals!! 11 unanswered goals to finish the game!!

On The Final Siren tonight we'll be running through all the fixtures from the local leagues around Geelong, dissecting the issues that have arisen after some interesting results in all three competitions. We'll also be joined by East Geelong coach Adam Skrobolak to discuss the Ricky O'Toole move, and want your thoughts about the fixturing for local football. Should we see more night football, and also a feature or match-of-the-round game on a Sunday? Along with everything local, we'll chat about all the AFL News, so join us from 8-9pm on 94.7, The Pulse FM

With Oppenlander, Hoey, Liston, Cormack & Hilderbrand all gone, there are plenty of spots up for grabs.
You name a club who wouldn't want an experienced gun footballer in their side?
Also not every player at East gets paid. Only contracted players, so if you are so sure that's the amount paid then give us a breakdown.
Oh that's right you have no idea at all what goes on within East Geelong :thumbsu:
If O'Toole helps East win back-to-back flags, no-one within the club would begrudge Ricky or the club. Players miss out every week from Round 1 to a GF through injuries, suspension, form or some just aren't good enough.
If you aren't good enough to be in the senior side then you can hardly blame it on 1 person

Hello Lloyd that is a fair point you have there mate, But you would be kidding yourself if you think East is not paying out a fair bit of coin for the players the have in there side? How many junior East players are in that that team O'leary boys i am pretty sure and the rest of the senior group are bought or get some sort of finical reimbursement for there playing services. Now lets not be stupid say that i don't know much about East Geelong cause you do not know who i am and secondly i do know quite a bit about East Geelong, but in saying that tell me a club that is not paying for there players :thumbsu:

O'Toole is a good get for the club and an absolute luxury having him coming off half back, rotating through the centre as required.

In regard to the coin being payed I woud have no idea for 2010 as I no longer have a role (other than supporter) at the club, however I will say the in the past the club was a long way from paying the numbers being quoted here. I would also think that the figure of $100k is fanciful as it would be difficult for any club, let alone East (unless a generous benefactor has come along) to raise these sort of numbers.

If you think thats just me defending the club then run the numbers yourself and see where it comes to. I am as interested as anybody to hear what people think GDFL players get payed.

The old who's paying who argument AGAIN:rolleyes:

Seriously who gives a flying ****?????? It normally just gets brought up by people whose club have no success and have no other argument over the better clubs so they bag them for paying more (Winning).

The BETTER clubs usually can pay more for players, because they are BETTER and generate more money. They have BETTER committees, BETTER facilities, BETTER coaches, BETTER people around the club to chip in.
Which creates more money and therefore get BETTER player.

So instead of whinging on here at what other clubs pay, maybe get off an internet forum and go down to your club and ask what can you do to help.

Corio, Inverleigh, BPH, East Geelong, North and Werribee. I don't think there'd be too many arguments either
