That's probably for the best considering what we did to your club in that period. Don't want PTSD.

You aren't that special lol, we were losing Prelims long before and will continue to do so long after you.
It's the nature of being a competitive side for 2 decades, you're gonna take a lot of L's.

I'd care about it if it was Hawthorn, everyone else is just meh

Richmond has a 10w 2l record v Cats in finals.

If you reversed Richmond's finals domination over the Cats, Richmond's overall finals record would stand at 51% win rate rather than the brilliant 60% it is now.

And the Cats overall finals record would stand at 51% win rate as well, rather than abysmal 45% it is now.

This is not to mention the effect reversing the results of finals between the clubs would have on their respective Premiership totals, which currently stand 13 Richmond v 10 Geelong, despite Geelong having been in the competition for 11 seasons before Richmond first joined.

So we can see it matters to you. But pretending it doesn't matter, clearly matters more to you. We are here to support you, if you feel you need to pretend it doesn't matter then that is legitimate for you. Nobody should tell you otherwise FootyLad.

It literally doesn't matter and it never did, you aren't Hawthorn and unless you decide to identify as the hawks then it still doesn't matter, but paragraphs are great...

End of story.

I think most Richmond people already uderstood the Hawthorn FC & the Richmond FC are 2 separate and distinct entities.

So pretty pointless post by you. Apart from including "literally." That always adds a lot to otherwise pointless posts. :tearsofjoy:

Most Richmond people are still bragging about something that happened 4 years ago so that shows where they are at...

Speaks volumes when you guys still try to keep a non factor rivalry alive.

Sorry to be your narrative crasher, but your club has played in 20% more finals against Richmond than it has against Hawthorn. Mind you, Geelong has won 100% more finals v the Hawks than the Tigers. No wonder you need to pretend the Richmond bit didn't happen. But we're here, to remind you.

Hawthorn are already back up in the Geelong end of the ladder. Their games once again have importance, as the head to head decided who was top 4 and who was 5th-8th in 2024.

We could be waiting a decade or more before Geelong and Richmond are playing truly consequential games for both clubs. Modern day Richmond enjoy large periods in the wilderness.

So?

The games in between have also been of consequence. The same in my lifetime can’t be said of the Tigers. I can think of maybe 2-3 that carried much if any weight. Which is what builds and sustains a rivalry as far as I’m concerned.

All I look at from the losses to the Tigers is that: losses. I don’t look at them and go ‘those dastardly yellow and black f**kwits we will get them next time and never lose to them again’ and circle the game on a calendar or something and look at every game as a chance for revenge or something.

Against the Hawks I see it as a chapter in a rivalry fuelled by dislike that’s existed since I was old enough to follow the game, of both their team and their fans, at least while the game is being played anyway. Their fans are generally ok outside of that time.

The tigers team itself I couldn’t care less about. Their fans have dug a well for themselves with the sort of crap that gets spouted in here that makes me dislike quite a few of them or at the very least question their sanity - seeing people brag about being the worst at something brings things into focus - but the team was just another that was too good for us at a certain point in time as a few others have been and you can brag about it all you want. It won’t create a rivalry beyond what you want it to be.

I can sense your fear. We know what is coming. Cats look winners at HT in a final against Richmond in the not too distant.

Cats all time second halves v Tigers in 12 finals: 49 goals 65 behinds
Tigers all time second halves v Cats in 12 finals: 97 goals 79 behinds

You go to HT thinking you are going to win a final against Richmond at long last, Tigers apply afterburners, you lose. You are devastated. Then you cry.

Then you go into "pretend we don't care" mode, to protect yourselves from your finals bully. Manbaby style. :tearsofjoy:

A. Days since Geelol beat Richmond in a final: 10,661
B. Days since Richmond beat Geelol in a final: 1,498

C. Days since Geelol won its second last final v Richmond: 34,020
D. Days since Richmond won its second last final v Geelol: 1,898

I get it now, I think I would need to pretend it doesn't matter that my foundation club won its second most recent final against the Tigers twice as many decades ago than years have elapsed since the Tigers second to last finals victory over Geelol.

Richmond 1983-1994
Finals? 0

Can’t see any finals there. That’s enough for me.

Finals wins between 1980 and 2017:

3

No, you really set the world alight.

It was a golden era and one that should be celebrated by all.
The real golden era is when they knocked Geelong out of the finals three times in five years this decade. Maybe talk about that pal

lol. Maybe but when you spend 25 years in the wilderness, you aren’t relevant. Cats stay relevant. We matter-.you don’t.

Can anyone please translate this from PhatBoy into English for me?

Seems to be some sort of long and complex denial narrative.

Richmond supporters: "Grrrrrr, Geelong Geelong Geelong!!!"

Geelong supporters: "Hawthorn are our rivals, oh now St. Kilda are our rivals, oh now Collingwood are our rivals, oh now Fremantle are our rivals, oh now Richmond are our rivals"

Every second flash-in-the-pan team wants to be Geelong's rival these days.

I would love to say it is a fierce rivalry. It almost is.

Richmond are fierce with Geelol in finals.

Geelol have fears about meeting Richmond in finals.

Matter to what?

If you want to be more relevant than Richmond, try winning more flags than us.
Who cares about that? Your club is in the wilderness for long periods of time. The last flag is always a long way back. You don’t feature in finals calculations, year in, year out- boring dude.

Geelong just keep chugging along while their 'rivals' challenge for a bit then drop away into obscurity. Saints of 09/10 were worthy challengers, then into the doldrums they went. Freo of 12/13 were worthy challengers, then into the doldrums they went. Richmond were worthy challengers, then into the doldrums they went.

Geelong? Grabbed another flag in '22, their fourth of the 21st century, and more recent than any of the new-age Saints, Freo or Tiggie 'rivals'. That's business as usual, meanwhile I can't even comprehend how a club can win just two games across a twenty-three game season. Not just that, but then their supporters think they are still somehow accepted on the same table as the most winningest and successful club of the 21st century.

Richmond are in the Norf and West Coast tier, not even bad clubs, but historically awful. They are your rivals now, an exhilarating race to see who can lift themselves off the arse-end of the ladder while everyone else points and laughs.

Pleased to see Geelol fans have a new thing to not care about. They don't care about how many flags they win now. Unique.

The only thing they do care about is how many years Richmond doesn't make finals. That part actually makes perfect sense. Because they are a bit fed up with being marmalised by the Tigers every time they meet in finals.

Interesting.

Flags last 60 years:

8 Richmond

300 feet of shit.

4 North, Eagles, Cats :tearsofjoy:

Appears to me like Richmond are in their own tier & Geelol are in the Norf and West Coast tier. Damn actually.
