Can someone tell me why alot of Geelong supporters around here say they have 17 premierships? All the facts point to only 10.

A failure is a failure. You can wrap it up anyway you like, spray it perfume and add some sparklers but in the end, its still a piece of sh.te. Two win away or twenty wins, your season is a failure unless you're holding the cup.

And some failures provide lots of fun and excitement and hope.

And others make you miserable, drive you insane, make kids cry and make you want to give it all way.

Yeah well, you won the most games across 2017-2020 and responded to the rule change by making the finals once in the four seasons that followed and ‘achieving’ a wooden spoon.

We won the second most games across 2017-2020 and responded to it by winning a flag, and making two preliminary finals, so stiff shit.

It’s almost like the rule change did sweet FA to Richmond and it was more their best players declined and weren’t replaced with players of the same calibre.

Not sure why Richmond supporters want to claim it was all down to the stand rule, almost seems as if they are talking down why they were good.

There was the Grigg no prior opportunity ruck rule, the 6 6 6 rule to prevent Richmond playing behind the ball at bounces, and the kick out after behind rule changes to stop Richmond's forward press. Then finally the stand rule.
Hocking changed the entire look of the game to stop Richmond and advantage Geelong. Geelong obviously doesn't win the premiership in 2022 without the plethora of rule changes specifically introduce to advantage them.

Yet another example of Geelong's cultural dependence on handouts.

Yeah Richmond clowns took the 2022 result harder than the Swans simply because it gave us 4 AFL era flags and trumps their 3. And you couldn’t compete with 75 per cent of your opponents, much less win one, under a whole bunch of parameters either old boy until suddenly a whole series of circumstances went right and then you did. And like you, we had to play under those same circumstances in 17, 19, 20, and we couldn’t hold a candle to you and you were too good.

That’s what happens year upon year. Unfortunately soft-**** excuse making has become the norm for any team that struggles and they look to wave it away and blame it on something instead of just saying the only two things that a normal fan should: either a) the opposition was better or b) we weren’t good enough.

Geelong had a failure of a season and so did Richmond. it's as simple as that. The only difference is that we're likely to improve our list quicker from where we finished than you are.

Rebuilds are not linear, success is not linear.
Rebuilding does not guarantee future success and to suggest so would be incredibly naive.

You could draft 3 flops and it keep you down the bottom for a decade+
You could draft the next Dusty and become a dynasty.

There is no guarantee.

I think what you’ll find is, we just played a really good game of footy on Saturday night here and a handful of the lowest common denominator Tigers fans flocked to this thread like flies to shit, to make out as though missing a grand final by a kick and a half, after two of those primary players in particular had tipped us to finish in the bottom end of the ladder, was a failure.

Reminding that their own side won the wooden spoon seems a fairly normal response, wouldn’t you say?
