Nothing changed but the branding. So yeah it is very arbitrary.Hardly arbitrary. AFL premierships.
AFL started 1990 Pretty simple.
Nothing changed but the branding. So yeah it is very arbitrary.
18 teams makes more sense. Or we can stick to 13-10 and not choose arbitrary timeframes to suit narratives.
Would we? The Giants beat us at Kardinia Park that year, so, yeah. Not sure they would have been particularly predisposed to just automatically turning their toes up against us.

I prefer no manipulation and we can leave it at 13-10. I think we can all agree 10+ is a pretty good effort anyway.Wouldn’t really matter if you made it from when they brought in 4 interstate, 5 interstate, or 6, sides to make it a national competition. The only manipulation on that front that you can swing is that in the period that there has ONLY been 8 interstate sides the Tigers have won more.
relax, you won a dynasty at collingwood's expenseSo we keep hearing, but you didn’t, did you. You won a flag, at our expense.
You won another one against a team who beat us for fun whenever they travel to Victoria, and you won another one against a team who butt-f**ked us in a preliminary final so you didn’t really, did you.
You won a flag at our expense.
We launched our most successful period as a club off the back of beating you by 28 goals so we’re happy enough.
relax, you won a dynasty at collingwood's expense
but then we won one at your expense
you can't have it all.
neither brissy or hawthorn went through the same team in every one of their threepeats.

I didn't realise de Nile flows straight through the middle of Kardinia Paddock.
Claims he is ambivalent towards Richmond, copes well with 16 other teams beating his beloved Cats, but when it is the Tigers who cost the Cats flags, goes into full "this did not happen" mode. It is just magnificent.

Being able to actually analyse and deconstruct = denial.
This is lame even by your standards.
Losing a qualifying final equals being denied a flag now? Well well this is a new one.
Again, for those at the back, we were knocked out by Adelaide who thumped us in 2017, not Richmond, and there was still another game to go after that anyway.
And again, in 2019, you beat us in a preliminary final, not a grand final.
Sure you knocked us out and ended our season so good luck to you, I was disappointed and wish we won and gave ourselves a decent shot, but there was nothing that says ‘you would have won the next week against the team has no fear of beating you in victoria.’
And again the fact that you guys won these games and still carry more baggage about our club for some unknown reason with all this conspiracy theory shit seems to reflect on a bigger chip on your shoulders than anyone else’s.
We seem to by and large be able to simple say ‘well done you were too good.’
Slips into "this did not happen" mode then applies the after burners.
If it is that crucial for you to deny that 16w 6l 136% top of the ladder Geelong would have beaten 13w 9l 115% GWS, who scored 3 goals in perfect conditions in the Grand Final, to deny your Cats the 2019-20-22 dynasty you would have achieved had you been able to beat Richmond in finals, then you carry on PB. Just understand that to the rest of us this looks like trauma-induced denial.
They scored 3 goals against YOU.
Why would you just assume that would happen automatically against a completely different team who you beat the week before?
Yes yes it’s trauma. I’m still railing away with tired conspiracy theories about corruption and anti-Geelong bias etc etc and finding it so hard to manage that I deal with it the only way I know how by saying ‘you were too good and beat us in those matches.’
Boy howdy, I’m struggling.
The Prince of Weird.....just got significantly weirder.
Nice one.
Tell us again about how you’ve graciously gotten on with life since Richmond’s time at the top came to an end.
And weirder.
I think the inner sanctum at Geelong at the time would disagree with you, the soft signals inferring that Richmond didn't play footy 'the right way' were already being delivered by Chris Scott in early 2018.But we didn’t. We beat them the most but chances are they would have lost to port in 2007. Port played a stinker in the grand final but they were clearly the second best team for the year, the pies were an emerging side no doubt and played an enormous PF but I doubt they could have replicated it.
I like reminding them that we kept beating them when we won flags but those wins didn’t cost them premierships bar 2011

From there it just gradually amplified to the point where by 2021 Hocking was rushing in untested rule changes to the game, that explicitly countered the Tigers playing style.
All this sheets back to the 2017 QF, which shocked in that it didn't go to script for what GFC had come to expect against Richmond for decades, and then in ensuing years became a dawning realisation that a carefully curated golden generation at Geelong would go to waste.
And all due to a plucky RFC team thrown together in the expansion years, for the most part from rookies and off-casts, playing 'dirty'/scrappy football.
Geelong's "dynasty" team couldn't even manage back to back flags...
