Strange seeing Gary Ayres so enthused about Port Melbourne.

He’s always be one of my favourites.
Anyone wanting to know what sort of footballer he was, regard him as the Luke Hodge of the 1980’s: leadership, tough as nails, big game player: 5 premierships says it all.

And 2 premierships as a coach.
Would love to see Roughy, Cyril and Birchall join the 5-flag club.

And like Hodge also has 2 Norm Smith medals. True legend.

They named a medal after him a Big time finals performer. Having him and Dermie in the same team hardly seemed fair for the rest of the comp
I was a huge fan in the 80s. I was always amazed at the size of Ayres' calves. They were the size of Sherrins. Little wonder he always played with socks down!

With Dermie, Dipper and Ayres lurking I'm sure some opposition players heard footsteps.

live site?
Had me wondering, too. So I went to the RFC site. Apparently they have the Swinburne Centre showing the game. Access is entry fee. Seems reasonable to me. Family is 2 adults and up to 4 juniors. If I was a tiggers fan and no ticket to the G, I would be willing to pay the $20 for a good seat surrounded by hundreds of similarly minded rabid bogans.

Good thing I am not a tiggers fan.

Hawthorn never charged, neither did the dogs.

I think Hawthorn's was a gold coin donation ?
thats what I thought but I never bothered getting a photo so who knows

Doggies charging $150 copped some flack considering half their supporters had never had a chance before, I'm sure since the event people have had other opportunities, then again with Gordon running the Doggies maybe not

It was a gold coin donation with the proceeds going to charity. I can't remember which one, but I think it was children's cancer research (in Adelaide, anyway).

I was out at Waverley for the cup photos in 2013, 2014 and 2015 - and it definitely was only a gold coin donation.

There will be a live site outside the G like last year?

Suppose it's an opportunity to be sitting with your own supporter base and it's cheaper than a home and away game for a family but it's still a bit of a cheek when you consider the shit they've had to watch them dish up for the last 35 years - think they'd reward them with a freebie. Then again I suppose a fee keeps some undesirables from rocking up and ruining the day for others

When Tigers win they will have a tremendous marketing opportunity with a premiership clash jumper. Will be a must have for the Tiger diehards and for kids Chri..... (Whoops. Festive Season) presents.
They are not over the line yet but here's hoping.
Disclaimer: I live in Tassie and they are not ferals here. There are at least 3 teams worse here as a Hawk supporter.
