I hope he's just trolling and not genuinely upset that the Grand Final is played at the MCG. I mean he's a paid journalists and not a Bigfooty poster, so he should know the reason why the GF has always been at the MCG.

I don't know his mindset in saying that, but it wouldn't be the first time I've heard that from a Crow supporter. Let's put it this way, their a special breed those Adelaide supporters.

Wu is a well known Sydney "supporter" and would be serious about his comment in the sense that he would be thinking he is making a stand for all interstate clubs who getter dudded in GF forgetting of course about any contractual agreements or that nowhere else is big enough for the afl to make money off.

Cochin and Ellis will both play. Both incidents weren't serious enough to warrant suspension for next week. Perhaps in the regular season, but not the GF.

While I hope both play, Cotchin should be in trouble due to his previous 2 fines this year. Ellis should be okay as Whitfield played on. At worst he will get a fine for a high.

However, Shiel took no further part. If that was due to concussion then Cotchin shouldn't be let off as chose to bump and got him high. It's harsh but if the MRP are fair dinkum it has to be a fine and therefore a suspension.

Having said all that, the MRP (aka the AFL) will come up with findings that suit its agenda so I'm expecting him to play.

The fact we even have to discuss whether or not Cotchin should or shouldn't be playing, or whether it's technically the rule or not, just shows how much the AFL have muddied the waters and confused the masses about a great aspect of the game.

Rubbish. Cotchin went for the ball. There was no intent to bump, just place his body between Shiel and the ball in order to win it. There was no choice involved. Is he supposed to just stand back and wait for Shiel to win the ball then tackle him?

There is no way on this Earth that AFL will let Cotchin miss this week.. They've influenced big names getting off before and they will certainly not let the captain of a massively supported (money spinning) club like Richmond miss the GF.

I think the fact that the two of us see the incident so differently shows the AFL needs to clarify the rules.

Hopefully he plays (and I think the AFL will make it so he does) but the concussion will be a factor.

And it's not because I think in days gone by Cotchin SHOULD be suspended for that.
But in the head is sacrosanct and the player was concussed he's gone era they really have no choice by their rules.
And the fact we have the 3 fines you're out system, there is nowhere for them to go with a reprimand.
Ellis is clear cut though, he should be far more nervous than Cotchin as he made no real attempt to play the ball.
The AFL might take the soft road by nailing Ellis and letting Cotchin go so both sets of supporters are half outraged and half satisfied.

Look I love tough footy and Cotch went hard but let's not kid ourselves, he only wins the ball after he all but knocks the other guy out.
Not to mention the whole flow of the game changes after shiel went off.
