Dimma and clarko

Damn you Richmond fans. Why do you have to be such *****, generally speaking.
Otherwise would be nice to see a bloke that was on the brink win a flag 12 months later and increase the Legend of Clarkson at the same time.

Geezus there's some salty Cats supporters out on the mainboard - taking defeat at the hands of the tigers very badly

Just wait until Dangerfield* gets edged out....

I don't know about that, perhaps, but I don't think people are comparing apples with apples. That's why I keep asking for footage of similar instances where a player has been sanctioned. There have been a number of soft decisions this year (jumper punching in my opinion shouldn't be a sanction), but I know some will disagree. My issue is I believe the other instances were more aimed at the player rather than the ball or were deliberately reckless. Regardless, there should be consistency in decisions (finals or not) and a play like that does not deserve a sanction, it deserves praise.

See I'd almost prefer to throw out duty of care and as long as intent was to get the ball, all bumps are ok. Whereas I see no justification for jumper punching should suspend them for idiocy

Mate this is football not ballet. Mitchell can get KO'd by one of his own players, it just happens. Both players need to always expect the opposition be entering into the contest at full tilt and know that there is a good chance they're going to get smashed. You're protected to a point but in certain scenarios you are contesting the ball the same time and when you're in that zone you're both facing the reality of impact and injury. To try to micro analyse who was first to the contest by fractions of a second using slow motion replays and then wipe guys out on that basis is fantasy. If the player is injured because an explicit "attempt to harm", this is a different kettle of fish, but in a genuine ball contest (which all of these were) you both cash in your protection to some extent. Accidents and incidental injuries will always happen and they will suck but they will suck a lot less than elite players missing the grand finals on technicalities.
Well said. My thoughts exactly. Cannot believe anybody seriously thinks that deserves suspension or is outside the laws of the game. Brainwashed by media who talk the story up because they need a beat up.

Well I for one think if it had been Jordan Lewis or Toby Greene they wouldn't be playing this week and I'm off to get my tin foil hat on

Has since been deleted....and probably posted here already, but...

I actually like that from Shiel. Too many players tow the line for the good of the game, giving cliches during interviews and generally sounding like major idiots in the media. A little bit of cheek to post that

Everyone that disagrees is not brainwashed, it's not a great way to get people to listen to your opinions. And I was slightly on the side of Cotchin not getting suspended (largely because I don't want the most boring finals series of all time), even if I absolutely think he would have been rubbed out in the H&A.

Even Derm said he was just trying to hurt him. He was charging directly with his shoulder in an unnatural manner if he just wanted to bump him out of the way. Look how tucked in the arm is, when the obvious option was always to just tackle him.

I'd say less than a second to decide to protect your head from a head collision, something that Shiel probably wishes he had done too.

Dylan couldn't play on in a final FFS, he is missing the Brownlow and most likely he would have missed the GF if they played!!!
Cotchin is a poor man's Hodge and has been trying to look tougher than he really is for the last few years but can't quite understand how people can say that he is innocent on this hit!!!! It's high, it's impacted the receiving player so much that he did not take any part in the game and IF people wanna keep saying " he was going for the ball" well, Dylan had it before him so the next port of call is to tackle or harass, not brace yourselves to smack a bloke to next week.
Both Cotchin and Ellis have been unfairly let off to play in a GF because that's what's important, not the rules nor the integrity!!
Absolute farce.

It was accidental without a doubt. Too bad sometimes you get hurt in this game and you miss out on the big days. Too bad. Nothing malicious in the contact at all.

Have more awareness around the contest as Cotchin did.
